As Alan Derchowitz(sp) just said on TV he committed a felony. He had several methods where he could have done a 60 minutes interview and contacted his congressional representative to have the information he had disclosed through the press and congress. He ran because he knew he did something which was not honorable. He would have been a patriot, would have been far more within the law, and would have accomplished the same goals if he was not a coward and ran with the documents he promised to keep secure. I have zero pity for what he faces. I find him to be a common criminal and not a hero. He could have been a hero. It would have involved certain jail time, but it would have been done the right way, and it would not have put some people at risk.

Alan Dershowitz is a dual US/Israeli citizen. I don't trust his assessment of the situation in any respect whatsoever. You may say that what Snowden did is criminal, but he already had the example of Manning, who tried taking the story he uncovered through proper channels and to at least two prominent newspapers. Like Manning, Snowden has the COURAGE OF HIS CONVICTIONS. He's a hero in my book. The real criminals started wars for profit and political power and should be buried under the jail.
