Do you and your family have a fire plan? Where to meet outside in case of a fire. Can you get out of your bedroom if there is a fire in the hallway? Can you open your windows? Are they blocked? Are your smoke detectors and other alarm systems in good shape? Have you personally tested them lately? Just a few ideas I am sure Mr Gunz and others have even better ideas but it is something to think about.

I have to get a new fire extinguisher.......damn puppy decided to get under the park model where the racoons live.....and I could not call her out...took a boat extinguisher and sprayed under the park model.....damn that pup moved and was sitting on the front stoop in a NY second. All I have to do now is let out a big and quick hiss and I get her attention.....so yes....I need to update my smoke alarms and fire extinguishers......before a damn coon drags the pup to the river and drowns her.

ah good topic. Especially now with all the Christmas lights up and the Christmas tree lit up. I actually worried about this recently.

In the past we had fire drills. Kids go out the nearest possible exit, including knocking a window out of their bedroom and meet outside away from the fire.

However it has been a while and not since I moved in this house. I need to go over that.

It would be a great help if Guns could come give us some tips such as , don't touch a door handle when its very hot, there may be a flaming fire just outside that will rush in.

I try to turn my Christmas lights off when I go to bed and keep it watered good but I still worry. I check it often to see if its drying out.

My fire alarms work, because my gf test them out often lol

lol... not him specifically. But since it's feared by some that he might be leading the zombie nazi apocalypse... so yes.

Luckily... I'm offering a unique opportunity in affordable zombie nazi apocalypse protection plans. PM me for the specifics.

My thought exactly.... that is why I invested in the Jocko front yard night light.....It shows I am a sensitive racist who believes some people are naturally inferior and should be displayed in a subservient manner.   Once a person has their Jocko front yard night light the nazi crazies will give a seig heil and terrorize the house with the zionst Santa Claus display.  Also Jocko has been trained on how to participate in the knockout game.....you have to have your bases covered and be prepared....., and being that Jocko is diminutive.....he is packing....and he sure is not putting his hand behind his back to pull out a rabbit.

Mr ichi,
I want you to know that I became so worried about fire safety last night I had a terrible night mare ad was worried sick about my grand babies. I woke up in the middle of the night and rushed to facebook in hopes of maybe my daughter would be on so I could check on them. didn't want to call ( wake baby ) but she is up sometimes on FB because her husband works nights.

anyway while I was there I decided your message was so important for people right now, I made it my status. So don't feel bad about giving me a nightmare, it might save someones life.  Very Happy

Have a good day!

and watch out for zombies tongue

Sorry if my post caused you any distress. That was not my intention.

When I first retired I volunteered for the Red Cross. I was a Disaster Assistance Team member. I went to where people had fires and offered them assistance. A room for 3 days, couple of hundred dollars, Etc. No much but it helped. It was just too damn hard to do. I only lasted a year or so. Some people had lost everything. House, pets, clothes, you name it. The damn smoke is the worse, even if they get the fire out quickly the smoke damage can be huge. I have a lot of stories so I try to warn people when I can. It is bad down here because it dosent get that cold very often. Lot of People use space heaters and they can really be dangerous if you are not careful.

One Christmas eve I was called out to a mobile home fire. It was very cold. the lady's home burnt almost to the ground. She escaped with just what she was wearing, a battered house coat, and her 2 children. I did what I could and fudged the numbers to try and help a little more. It was gut wrenching to converse with someone who had very little, have absolutely
nothing.

Not tiring to kill the Christmas spirit Just trying to bring some issues to light

The spirit of some people is truly awe inspiring. I had a call out on Jacks branch road. A young couples hand built home has suffered major fire damage. The young husband was in a wheel chair. I introduced my self as the Red Cross and told him I could offer some assistance. We talked for awhile then he said "We will be Ok. Save the money for someone who really needs it" I thought God Damn if you dont need it, Who does? He remained adamant on refusing assistance so after a while I turned to leave. Then he said "There is one thing you can do. Could you go the store and get me a pack of cigarettes? I can not find mine" I bought him a carton.

This is not about me but a tribute to the people who still do this job. I could not do it. Reality was too harsh.

I am really appreciative and trust me its a GOOD thing because I was able to relay that message onto my family and freinds.  Very Happy
