Thanks. My comment was not based on any scientific data but rather my personal observations regarding Santa Rosa County. The data from usa.com is from 2006-2010. Based on 2012 US Census data, Santa Rosa County increased in population 4.7% from 2010 to 2012 while Escambia county increased only 1.7% during the same period. When it comes to economic development, my area of focus is in Santa Rosa county. We do work closely with Escambia county but I view that relationship as one of cooperative competition.

Biz is correct, and certainly economic development should be looked at as a regional discussion which principally involves Santa Rosa and Escambia. For too long the development teams have not looked at regional considerations. My wife and I have at various times commuted up to 100 miles daily. Jobs with interstate highways do not have to be walking distance. I am encouraged the two counties have taken a cooperative approach to regional development, but I still believe the State of Florida has virtually abandoned NW Florida.
