My mother's dad used to cook possum. He'd put sweet potatoes around the possum in the pan and bake it all up. I'm sure it was yum, yum!

You could get dinner and some smokes out of this deal, Bob. Razz

Look all I know is Granny tried to get Milburn Drysdale and everybody else in Beverly Hills to eat that nasty possum meat on every episode and none of them ever went for it. So I aint either. And that's even though I was born in the Tennessee hills same as Granny and those other Clampetts.
But I came to Florida when I was six years old and all I want is oysters.
Except lately after they have flesh eating bacteria in em I'm rethinking that.

And please nobody tell me it tastes like chicken. They've told me that about everything and the only thing that tastes like chicken is chicken. And maybe turkey. Everything else tastes like what it is, roadkill.

Settle for baked or fried oysters. Peg Leg Pete's oysters are the best.

Fried oysters have two ingredients that make or break how good they taste.

1. the fried oysters

2. the tartar sauce

I like a little fried oyster to go with my tartar sauce. But only when the tartar sauce is really good.
I usually ask for four extra helpings of the tartar sauce and then I always need more.

Okay I know the next question. Where do you get the best tartar sauce?
The answer will come as a shock to you. Captain D's.
I go buy a 2 piece fish dinner to go. And only so that I can take the styrofoam container with the meal in it and literally fill it with the tartar
sauce that comes out of a pump handle at the condiment counter.
Then I go home and put all that tartar sauce in a bottle and save it in the fridge for when I have my own fried fish and shellfish.

You ever had a rolled oyster, Bob?

The only places I've ever seen them served are in Louisville.

You take 4 or 5 oysters, dip them in some kinda egg batter, roll it up in cracker crumbs, and deep fry it.

Comes out looking kinda like a big hush puppy.

Really delicious, especially with a few beers.

I would like to try the rolled oysters. But only if they come with a full cup of tartar sauce for each one.

But that Granny freak and those other hillbillies were also big on frog legs. And if that aint bad enough this inbred likes them too. So that rules them out for me.

I can't stand anything that tastes gamey or fishy. That's why I prefer basa over every other fish. Because it has no taste to it except the taste of the delicious tartar sauce.

I'm with Bob. I like tartar sauce. When I have fried shrimp, it has to be with tartar sauce. But the server never brings tartar sauce with the shrimp. It's always nasty cocktail sauce and I have to ask for the tartar sauce.

Apparently no one but Bob and I have heard about it because servers always bring me cocktail sauce. I also eat hush puppies with ketchup. Some people think that's weird.

It's the horseradish that makes the cockrail sauce.,..my mouth waters when I see or say horseradish.

I have to have horseradish sauce with steak. Outback has the best horseradish sauce with dill.

It's good news and bad news. That it's not the cat is the good news.
The bad news is that a while back I opened the door to one of the storage buildings and when I did I saw a large animal make a big leap inside it.
I couldn't tell what it was at the time but somebody suggested it might be a possum. I haven't been back in since.
But this probably confirms there is a whole family of possums (maybe even more than one family) living in my storage building. Shit.
