I mean really broke, to where our credit don't look so good to other nations who are and have been in the process of assimilating our previous method of wealth accumulation. You know capitalism.

I mean what happens when those rising countries become the leaders of the world instead of us?

and we become a second class welfare nation.

What then?

Because that's the road we are on.

Carl, the problem with what you state is that we have run out of other people's money. We're 18 trillion in the hole and Obama is asking for more with the debt ceiling increase. Do you REALLY think we will ever pay this off? I don't and many other countries feel the same way. We are turning into Greece West.

Its amazing how the dumbasses in here are still measuring the wealth and pulse of the nation and our economy by how wealthy the very people they claim to hate are, the rich! It blows my freaking mind. Its ironic really lol

The rich must laugh their asses off at this group of people who defend all the bad news economy when they point out, oh but things are fine, the rich are getting richer while protesting they are angry the rich are getting richer) LOLOLOL oh my the belly laugh they must have on that one.. Laughing

It's a real shame, Chrissy, that you lack even a basic knowledge of how our economy operates.

I do.

Which is why I'm proposing new mandates that all you supposedly enlightened progressive liberals should be jumping on the bandwagon to support.

It's all for your own good, the good of America, and most especially big business, which you supposedly enlightened progressive liberals love to go to bed with.

Doubling the national debt is pretty much economic suicide and that is what Obama has done and he still wants more.

Hun, we are broke. I'd be personally horrified if my credit rating had been downgraded.

The COC don't much care.

Our nation is the wealthiest nation in the world. Nobody is close. We are far from broke. I just traveled across the country and saw wind power and transmission lines being installed across the country. I saw fields full of corn and soybeans as we are the world's breadbasket. We have cut our deficit in half in four years, and will be out of debt in six years even with the low level recovery we currently have. A balanced budget will allow addressing our long term debt which grows proportionately smaller as our economy grows. This country is booming in potential as our oil imports drop, and our exports expand. The American dollar is sound, and the only thing hurting this country is the terrorist within. They will be dealt with in the 2014 election, and the American middle class will begin to rebuild.

Stunning!

Though not surprising. The Progressives here who don't believe that $17 TRILLION, going on $18 TRILLION will be $20 TRILLION or more, by the time President Barrack Hussein Obama leaves office is BEING BROKE!

How can Progressives be so selfish and self centered that they demand that our children and their children shoulder this debt in order for them to not be inconvenienced by any sort of personal responsibility.

Just can't make these things up!  According to 2seaoat, we're going to be DEBT FREE IN ONLY SIX YEARS!  According to 2seaoat, we're going to be able to pay off $4 TRILLION of our debt per year for the next five years!  That plus the close to $4 TRILLION in spending each year.

2seaoat, where is that $8 TRILLION to come from?  President Barack Hussein Obama's "Stash"

The Frightwingers still believe that Mitt Romney, had he been elected, was going to reduce the deficit. The joke is on them, unfortunately……

You know that how? Because Harry Reid would have put a halt to any intelligent budget moves and demanded we go further in debt?

Had you all been truly concerned with deficit-reduction, you would have supported a non-establishment candidate instead of Mitt Romney. Ron Paul was a true deficit-hawk. The libertarian candidate for President, Gary Johnson (whom many of us voted for in 2012), was also a deficit–hawk. Romney was not.

Earth to Markle we will be in a balance budget position in less than 6 years. Our debt is always relative to our earning powers. When I was at my peak earning power my debt was many many times my earnings, yet my income continued to increase and I handled the debt easily.

This nation's GDP is about to explode with built up demand. The debt as a proportion of our income has been dropping like your IQ in this discussion. No we will not eliminate all our debt in eight years, any more than the average family will pay off their 30 year mortgage in eight years, but you know this. You sadly cannot make an argument about the % of GDP and reduction of debt......That big old bad socialist Obama, is actually improving our debt position......oh my.

Governor Mitt Romney was not my first choice for President. Although he is head and shoulders above who won.

Dr. Ron Paul has some good economic ideas and would be a good fit for a place in the cabinet. He is a kook in some other areas of his philosophy.

I am sorry your income has not kept up with your expenses, but the gas pump and the grocery store are certain structural increases which have little to do with who is president, but you can always get a second job to help meet expenses.

It has everything to do with how I feel about increased government spending and the exponentially increasing national debt.

But then it's obvious that you're nothing more than a big corporation bedfellow when you will not demand that the corporations comply with your glorious health care mandate even though they are the ones who would be paying the brunt of the bill if they weren't allowed their year, if ever, delay.

Was this NOT your statement?

Are you sober?

PLEASE show us the reliable source which states that our budget is going balance in less than six years.

How is going from a $10 TRILLION DEBT to a $20 TRILLION DEBT in eight years "improving our debt position"?

This must be some new form of economics.

These people have fuzzy math.

and they have figured out a scam.

run the debt up so high, and then wait for the repubs to try and fix it by cuts, which in fact will make peoples un happy.

I say we let this shit roll and get it on now. id rather pay for it now and go head to head with these mofos commies than my children and grandchildren.

Oh by the way... I already work two jobs, three if you count the part time construction that I do for my brother when he needs me and I have time.

So my opinion is that all government employees at the local, state, and federal levels should be put on the military pay scale and if they don't like the pay they can find a job in the private sector or they can take your snide advice of getting a second job because...

When the congress goes democratic in 2014 the top rates are going to be returned, our troops are going to be brought home, our defense spending will be slashed by at least 15%, and a transactional tax on wall street is going to be a reality. I know you think no more revenue can be generated, but that combined with a booming economy will get it done......just get out of the way with your corporate shill program......your boyz are going to pay.
