The city is making a major push to sweep the streets of dangerous, mentally ill New Yorkers — and has even compiled a most-wanted list, The Post has learned.

The measure follows a pair of high-profile subway-shove fatalities from December allegedly involving mentally ill individuals.

The city has already drawn up a list of 25 targets, sources said.

“After the Queens subway attack [of immigrant Sunando Sen], the [city] decided to take a proactive approach to track down the most dangerous mental-health patients that currently have mental-hygiene warrants” out for them, a law-enforcement source said.

Those warrants mean that the patients are not wanted for a crime but instead are being sought because they are not getting their court-ordered treatment

i had to look up a mental hygiene warrent. never heard of it.

If you read your own posts, you would see that they are looking for people who already have documented mental illness plus court ordered treatment for their illness. It is no different from a civil commitment law in any state, province or country in the world.

I read the whole thing.

Dont take your meds, get arrested. I know, its for the betterment of the public. Its the police's job by order of the county to track down and arrest people before they commit a crime and not taking your meds is now a crime and a perfectly good reason to hunt you down.

So yes, I get it. I even went and looked up what a mental hygiene warrent was, did you read that?

The Mental Hygiene Warrant (Involuntary Psychiatric Evaluation Section: 9.43) is intended for individuals with severe psychiatric symptoms who are at risk to themselves or others and are non-compliant with attempts by family to obtain treatment.

NY seems to be headed down a really odd road lately. banning salt, big gulps and recently wanting to ban take out styrofoam boxes and now hunting down poor people who may have just pissed off a relative who have commited no crime.

The writing is on the wall. It just must be invisible to most.
