So after the baby is born, they take him, put him in a plastic evidence bag, and pass him around the jurors during the trial?

A Republican lawmaker in New Mexico introduced a bill on Wednesday that would legally require victims of rape to carry their pregnancies to term in order to use the fetus as evidence for a sexual assault trial.

House Bill 206, introduced by state Rep. Cathrynn Brown (R), would charge a rape victim who ended her pregnancy with a third-degree felony for “tampering with evidence.”

“Tampering with evidence shall include procuring or facilitating an abortion, or compelling or coercing another to obtain an abortion, of a fetus that is the result of criminal sexual penetration or incest with the intent to destroy evidence of the crime,” the bill says.

Third-degree felonies in New Mexico carry a sentence of up to three years in prison.

Stupid is as stupid does....Rape is a crime and all you need for evidence is DNA not a half grown fetus.

Half grown fetus?

Read it again.

They want to force rape victims to carry their pregnancies to term.

The GOP really does hate women.

@ Sal...

Negatives for those remarks....?

Rule #1 on this forum....

Thou shalt not point out any crazy idea that's even remotely connected to an uber conservative Republican.

LOL!

They sure like to talk about it a lot.

So much so, that at a DC symposium on improving the GOP's brand, a point of emphasis was to stop talking about rape and abortion.

I guess this woman didn't get the memo.

It keeps manifesting itself in increasingly grotesque ways precisely because women being second class citizens is a core tenet of Republican philosophy.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander. How about cutting off the rapist's dick and using it as evidence in the same court? After all, it is the weapon used in the assault.
