Screw the "rules". What an idiot company to work for...

They say he abandoned his post to run down the beach to assist a swimmer in distress. His fellow lifeguards covered his station while he assisted the swimmer, who was "out of bounds" in a swim at your own risk area. The area he was hired to "protect" was covered. Have we become a nation of idiots?

Agree and I'm willing to bet that if he hadnt tried to initiate the rescue the family would have sued him. Danged if you do and danged if you dont.
