I will be getting a good rifle before I leave and all of the guns are for self protection..

That's sounds most excellent. Some of the best years of my life were spent in and around Colorado Springs. Never made it to Alaska but I'm still hoping.

I would do the same, and be armed for such a trip.

And don't forget a good camera. I still chuckle when I see the pic of my Father taking a shot of the view from Pikes Peak with a 110 Kodak.

I have a Nikon digital that takes great pics.. IF I could figure out how to post one here, I would.. LOL

If their situation is ragged to the point that they require a gun to feel safe, the game is already over.

There's a reason they call it terrorism. You just employ the softer gentler version.

You sound like you're practicing being a victim. My family will not have to do that.

Sorry, but my gear is defensive only. That is non-terroristic

One Charged, Four At Large After Attempted Home Invasion

January 2, 2013

One teenager was jailed and four more are wanted following a home invasion on Foxrun Road just north of Nine Mile Road.

The victim told deputies that four or five black males kicked in his door and fled in a silver colored Volkswagen when they realized someone was home.

Deputies located the suspect vehicle near Nine Mile Road and Chemstrand Road and confirmed it as stolen. Upon initiating a traffic stop, the driver refused to stop and a short pursuit followed. The pursuit ended when the vehicle’s occupants bailed out of the vehicle at the end of Brookmeadow Place and fled on foot.

One 15-year old was taken into custody and charged with resisting without violence, criminal mischief and unarmed burglary of an occupied residence. The teen told deputies that the four suspects that fled the scene were his former schoolmates.

Anyone with information on the crime is asked to contact the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office at (850) 436-9620 or Crime Stoppers at (850) 433-STOP.

When he starts telling us how he's buying concrete and cinder blocks so he can enclose his trainer and put 6-10 feet of dirt over it it might be time for us to start worrying about him...

Told my wife that for other than hunting and target shooting I hope to God that my firearms can sit and collect dust my whole life, but they are there if my family ever has to defend itself.

It was one of the many prepper shows on then. There were a few. All I remember is that this guy bought a large metal container and buried it in the ground and then ran out of money trying to create his getaway.

At a minimum you need a handgun and a rifle/tactical shotgun for home defense. Use the shotgun until you run dry and then let it hang from a sling and then grab your handgun from your thigh holster and take up where you left off ...

Guns are like silverware place settings. Each utensil has a different best use. A fork isn't very good at stirring coffee and a hand gun isn't very good at shooting quail.

I'm not shooting at quail inside the house.. LOL

I didn't get any new firearms, but I did get a butt load of ammo, a shotshell reloader, a field headspace gauge for my Mosins, and a pistol grip for my 12 Ga.
With the money I have left over, I'm looking for a good deal on some various calibers of brass to reload.

Quail have never fomented a home invasion that I can remember.
