Holy shitfire! That bastich set HIMSELF on fire!

...at least it was for a good cause, a Tibetan man protesting a visit of the Chinese President and all. You see all that SMOKE?? Looks like a damn vehicle fire.

Jiminy Christmas! I got through the first ten pictures before I quit. Hopefully PB doesn't look or we'll be taking up a collection to send her on a rescue mission to the Philippines.

I just made that photo my desktop background picture to remind me of how insane the human species can be. That is without a doubt the most insane thing I have ever heard of. And the caption says he lived with the pain of it for two days before he died. Somewhere up there the people in the flying saucers are looking at that and shaking their heads in disbelief along with me.

Back in the Navy, we called the ones who run while on fire "screaming alphas".

I have never really been afraid of dying, but I have VERY healthy fears of both fire and water, but my worst fear is burning to death (or worse yet, NEAR death) or drowning. :-E

Yeah, people are crazy, Bob.

Bob: Those photos are pretty tough, but thanks for sharing.

Gunz: I wish you didn't feel that way, and that there was something I could say to convince you that you do your job every day to the very best of your abilities, putting your own life at risk to save others. If nothing else, know that _ I _ know that you do and am grateful for firefighters like you every day. Be safe out there tonight, brother.

Here is an enlightening article on the subject of Tibetans setting themselves afire in protest of the Chinese repression:

Oh, good. I was hoping that was what you meant. Wink

I surely didn't mean to make light of the gentleman's awful demise.

Even if George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Elvis and Jesus all four told me to, I still would not set myself on fire for them.

And even if I was a victim of the worst repression and tyranny the world has ever seen, I would not set myself on fire. I'd get a box truck, fertilizer and diesel fuel and set the tyrants on fire.

Oh I will absolutely, most certainly be cremated when I bite it. I had nightmares for many years (and still do, on occasion) about my (real) mommy's body decomposing in her coffin when I was a little girl. Otherwise, I'd very likely be with you on that.

I am 100% with you on that, Bob. I could never, in 100 million years be able to set myself afire. Horribly painful way to go.

I dunno, Bob. Did you read the article I posted above? If I was Tibetan and was living under Chinese repression, I would protest my lil heart out.

But I would not set myself afire.
