no googling allowed. The winner gets lunch at Jerry's Cajun or Wintzell's, your choice.

No Googling? Damn. I guess Hoover. It's a middle-class yuppie area with a shopping mall that claims the world's largest skylight and the #1 tourist attraction in Alabama.

That's an old figure. Actually Hoover has grown quite a bit percentage-wise since that.

at the same time P'Cola has lost population...

Hoover is now the 6th largest city in Bama. And P'Cola is so far down the list in Florida that it's pathetic.

Just think, at one time Pensacola was THE largest city in Florida.

Even Dothan now has a larger city population than Pensacola. We oughta hang our heads in shame.

You seem to have forgot that we have a new Ball Park. Soon we will be big as Atlanta, Just wait. Trust me.

I dunno about that. But once the newness of that baseball wears off and the sales of the 6 and 8 dollar beers start to decline, we'll soon have a larger per-capita bonded indebtedness than Atlanta ever thought about having. lol

Yep. The Birmingham Barrons have played there for years. Birmingham decided to build a new park for them, though. The Hoover "Regions Park" is truly a multipurpose park, centered on baseball, but they play football and soccer there as well.

Damn! Of all the photos I have the only football images I have from there are low res movies of high school football. The other images I can find on the net of football or soccer there are copyrighted.

Yeah, but... taint a big un.

Hoover's Regions Park has a large parking lot, adjacent fields for practice, and a nice R/V park... excellent for tailgating!!!!

The SEC has held a lot of baseball tournaments there.

I dont know baseball but that what I thought a ball Park should be. I was thinking off 9 mile road were all the ball fields are. Build a stadium but leave a couple of the small fields for kids and young people to play on. Then they could work their way up to playing in the "BIG' one. Have young people playing in the Park all the time. Little league. some college ball, Old timers soft ball, and some of the stores could sell boot leg shirts and such. That is my issue with Studer Stadium, it seems to be for a very special group of people.

Its gotta be Hoover, Hell, thats where the vacuum sweeper was invented.

The town used to be Podunk until Herbert Hoover spent the weekend there once during a campaign stop. He won a hotdog eating contest and they named the town after him.

I expect Eric has even more Hoover trivia.
