There's an amendment to give Military and First Responder's death and college benefits but the military already gets them?

Yes, and that's why I will be voting against that amendment. I will vote, today, in favor of Amendment 3, 4, and 10. I'll be voting "no" on all the rest. There are some good ideas in the other amendments, but when you read to the bottom, someone has screwed them up with something I don't like. I'm sure the offshore drilling ban will pass, but I object to making vaping illegal inside public places. This is just big tobacco's add-on to stop people from using vaping instead of tobacco.
The amendment to allow us to vote for our county officials, like Sheriff, also contains, if I remember right, an increase in retirement age for judges from 70 to 75. We don't need that. We have enough judges for life in this country already, way too many, in fact. But local control is important enough that I will vote for it.
There are land mines all through those amendments that I don't like. I just can't vote for some of them in the form they exist.

I started a response by amendment and it disappeared.

1. NO -- How did this even make it onto the ballot?

2. NO -- And the ads for this are misleading as can be...trying to make homeowners think it applies to them

3. YES -- I believe voters should decide whether to allow casinos in FL

4. YES

5. NO

6. NO

7. NO

8. (removed)

9. YES...still voting to prohibit offshore drilling, even though the vaping ban should have been left off...I question why the court didn't send this back for revision.

10. NO...actually, HELL NO!

11. NO, because it's unclear

LWV: "Repeals the state’s ability to prohibit non-citizens from buying, owning and selling property; deletes a provision that forces the state to prosecute criminal suspects under the law they were originally charged under, even if the Legislature changes that law; deletes obsolete language having to do with high-speed rail in Florida.

No position. Although we think that removing obsolete language is a good thing, there is a lot of other obsolete language that is not being addressed. Although the first issue regarding the ability of non-citizens to purchase and sell property cannot be enforced, the provision that requires criminal suspects to be prosecuted for an obsolete law should be changed."

12. NO...again, unclear, and the ballot doesn't give enough info

LWV: Expands ethics rules for elected officials and government employees, notably by expanding from two to six years the time that many officials would have to wait before they could lobby state government.

No position. Although there is need for lobbying reform, we felt that six years might be onerous, and this amendment does not address the real issue regarding lobbying, which is the impact of money in political campaigns."

13. YES

SCHOOL DISTRICT REFERENDUM...should the superintendent be appointed by the elected school board members? (instead of elected, as it is now). YES

15. NONBINDING COUNTY BEACH REFERENDUM...YES

I would have been in favor of that one had it been for first responders and not military. IMO, military has its own set of benefits and they get  enough benefits already.

Oh, yeah, DUH!

I suppose I should read these things instead of just going Yes, No, Yes, No.

I agree. When I read that I thought are they saying in addition to federal benefits? My God enough is enough for these military people.

I'm also not voting for judges to be there until they're 75. Too old!
