A majority of Americans say President Trump has not accomplished much during his first nine months in office and they have delivered a report card that is far harsher even than the tepid expectations they set for his tenure when he was sworn into office, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News survey.

Approaching the first anniversary of his victory over Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election, Trump has an approval rating demonstrably lower than any previous chief executive at this point in his presidency over seven decades of polling. Fewer than 4 in 10 Americans — 37 percent — say they approve of the way he is handling his job.

Trump’s approval rating has changed little over the past four months, which have included tumultuous events, from hurricanes to legislative setbacks to indictments in special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s investigation into the role Russia played in the 2016 campaign.

I just continue to be flabbergasted that his approval rating is as high as it is.

His incompetence in Government was best defined last week when the "acting US Attorney in New York" had to explain that a President's comments could hurt their case. Almost a year now and you cannot appoint a NY US attorney?

It's so easy to overestimate the intelligence of the average American.

I've done so repeatedly.

Sad!

Can we agree he is an authentic fraud??? An oxymoron for the ages . . .

Clever -- and I'll certainly agree with the "moron" part of that.

Yeah, I keep forgetting.  Silly me.

I think the thing that was overestimated was the intelligence of leaders of the Democratic party. What was it Will Rogers said, "I'm not a member of any organized political party, I'm a Democrat" or something like that?

For Deus X:

Authentic Will Rogers quotes on Politics

DT and WA refer to newspaper columns:
DT = Daily Telegram; WA = Weekly Article

"I'm not a member of any organized political party.... I'm a Democrat."
"Democrats never agree on anything, that's why they're Democrats. If they agreed with each other, they'd be Republicans."
"There is only one redeeming thing about this whole election. It will be over at sundown, and let everybody pray that it's not a tie, for we couldn't go through with this thing again.

And, when the votes are counted, let everybody, including the candidates, get into a good humor as quick as they got into a bad one.

Both gangs have been bad sports, so see if at least one can't redeem themselves by offering no alibis, but cooperate with the winner, for no matter which one it is the poor fellow is going to need it.

So cheer up. Let's all be friends again. One of the evils of democracy is you have to put up with the man you elect whether you want him or not. That's why we call it democracy." DT #1953, Nov. 7, 1932
"If you ever injected truth into politics you have no politics" WA # 31, July 15, 1923
"Politics has got so expensive that it takes lots of money to even get beat with nowadays." DT #1538, June 28, 1931
"Politics pretty quiet over the week-end. Democrats are attacking and the Republicans are defending. All the Democrats have to do is promise "what they would do if they got in." But the Republicans have to promise "what they would do" and then explain why they haven't already "done it."

I do honestly believe the Republicans have reformed and want to do better. But whether they have done it in time to win the election is another thing. The old voter is getting so he wants to be saved before October every election year." DT #1917, Sept. 26, 1932
"This country has gotten where it is in spite of politics, not by the aid of it. That we have carried as much political bunk as we have and still survived shows we are a super nation." DT #1948, Nov. 1, 1932

Oddly, his approval rating at this point is almost exactly the same as the percentage of Americans who eat things they find on the sidewalk...

Scroll down to the responses from Republicans, Democrats and Independents. At first glance the ratings appear not to have shifted much recently but over time have gone down in all categories. Still, with a 78% approval rating from R's it is difficult for the elected pols to speak against him even if they think he is damaging the country.

Until the 30% of his solid base begins to slip, these polls are meaningless. If you see it in the mid 20s, Trump will be in trouble. His base still remains solidly behind him, and then it simply is politics....liberals attacking a conservative. However, any slippage in his base numbers will start a landslide because his base cannot avoid the reality of the truth which we are reminded repeatedly every week that this man is incapable of governing and has a job beyond his skills.

If the polls are meaningless, how will you know if he's slipped into the 20s?

If mommy took your temp by anal probe, and your temp was 98.6, and then four hours later using the same probe took your temp orally, and your temp was 104, then we all finally understand why you think a reading is meaningless, therefore you can throw away the probe which measures temp.......if the non fever reading is meaningless and shows no fever, it does not mean the probe is no longer useful, it simply means the readings are insignificant and meaningless. Your mother should have stuck to one opening because you still have difficulty distinguishing.

You seem to have some issues involving the maternal figure and, well... rectal penetration.

We're all friends here, Seaoat, and some members seem to hold you in high regard. Would you like to talk about your, uh, peculiar fascination?

No judgments here, buddy, let it all out, you'll feel better afterwards.

When considering Trump's basket of deplorables who still stick by him, like trapped rats stuck on gummy boards, every one of them are American losers -- people who continually look for people and groups to blame and hate for their own self-owned inadequacies. It's them damned blacks, the Jews, the Muslims, the Mexicans, the rich . . . and especially "all them damned politicians."

For them, Trump's The Man. "He knows what needs to be done to protect us from all them bad people! He wants more guns on the street, and so do we."

Reality.

From FB (regarding Trump's stopover in Waikiki to visit his hotel):

Wanna know why there's an elevated culture of conflict and hostility...???

Guess who said each and every one of these statements in public...

"I'd like to punch them in the face."

"He should be carried out on a stretcher."

"Part of the problem is nobody wants to hurt each other anymore."

"The audience should hit others. That's what we need a little bit more of."

"In the good old days this doesn't happen because they used to treat them very, very rough."

"If you hurt him, I'll defend you in court. Don't worry about it."

"Knock the crap out of them."

"Maybe he should have been roughed up."

"I don’t know if I’ll do the fighting myself or if other people will."

“She wants to essentially abolish the Second Amendment. By the way, if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although, for the Second Amendment people, maybe there is.”

He bragged about non-consensually groping and grabbing women by the genitals.

He sent a violent tweet (video) with one of his golf balls hitting the former Secretary of State in the back.

"If we have so many nuclear weapons, why can't we use them."

"I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn't lose voters."

TR*MP said each and every one of these

And isn't this just such a wonderful heritage we're leaving for our progeny, that this kind of person with this set of aggressive, combative non-values was elevated to the highest position in the land?  Excuse me, I need to go throw up.

“You got into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton Administration, and the Bush Administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.” — Barack Obama
