I love fried mullet.

My daughter caught this one today. We taught her to throw the cast net. Looked at nets today and she couldn't decide. Her friend's father in law gave her a 10 foot braille net. I think it is a little too big...I have always thrown a light weight 9'.

Her friend's FIL threw his net and caught 5 daughter caught 3...when I left she was headed to big Sabine to throw off the boat. NOW she has to learn ro clean them and eat fish.

I have watched people mullet fish with nets on some bayous on Garcon point, but for the life of me, I have never seen a mullet that large. I always saw them pulling smaller fish out.

I love the small silver mullet. Very tasty. We are very particular about cleaning mullet. We start cleaning when they are still alive. To me, it prevents an iodine taste. I scale and filet because I prefer the skin on. Many do not scale...they cut along the back bone and then skin the filets.

Oooo... Nice redfish. That's my standard table fair when I get down there. It's either that or pompano off of the beach. You're making me VERY envious... lol.

The mullet was the star... the kids loved it all. Cheese grits and a side of guacamole.

Lol....caught 3 17-18" mullet while preparing our crab and shrimp boil. Went ahead and fried the mullet and a couple dozen shrimp. OMG. We caught 3 dozen blue crabs. So good.

We cleaned the crabs on the dock using the hose to gut them.

Hallmark...when I was growing up we cleaned the crabs on the beach. We declawed the crab and popped the top shell off. Holding the crab tightly in the palm of our hand... slapped the water with the crab 2-3 times...and the crab was degilled and gutted. Did you do it that way?

I was telling the kids....and they googled it and the Internet showed the hose method. We didn’t have a hose on the beach.
