As expressed in a letter published in today’s PNJ:

Good luck, suckers

The first telling action the 2017 Republican Congress took was an attempt at gutting the independent ethics committee.

Here are my New Year’s predictions for the coming administration.

Like past Repugnicants, they will mess things over HUGELY, and then the country will elect Democrats to clean up the mess, IF Trump doesn’t first waste the whole planet by starting a nuclear war.

Military people who voted for Trump will see him and his fellow draft dodging cronies cut benefits and privatize the rest of what was promised to the people who actually served our country.

Seniors will see their Social Security and Medicare benefits “privatized” into oblivion, too. Poor people will see their health and food subsidies removed, because conservative fetus protecting “pro-lifers” view children out of the womb as parasites sucking on the government’s teat.

Trump appointed “swamp” creatures to posts within his Cabinet and our environment, education, food and drug protections will deteriorate.

At some point the people who voted for Trump will realize Russia and the KKK got the president they wanted but the majority of voters didn’t. Even his impeachment won’t help unless voting rights are restored and non-gerrymandered state elections are held.

Good luck, suckers.

After he takes the oath of office on that book that includes Two Corinthians he will suddenly, as if struck by lightning, grow up.

He will never tweet again except to wish someone a happy birthday.

He will pay all the workers and contractors that he owes money to.

He will call for a binding bi-partisan commission to set forth the necessary steps to execute an orderly transition from private to public health care modeled after the best system now functioning in the developed world.

He will raise taxes on the top 2%, pay off the national debt over a 15 year period.

He will sell his businesses and give the money to UNICEF.

He will appoint someone intelligent and centrist to the Supreme Court.

He will suddenly become a mature, thoughtful, dignified and caring person.

Then we'll all wake up and discover it was all just a dream and we are set to have him in the WH for a few months at least. (I'm hoping for impeachment.)

Careful what you hope for ...

Impeaching Trump would not go down well with many Republican voters—though it would win them many new fans in the centrist media, probably—but if they did so, Republicans would still have two solid years of complete control of the government, only now with a properly conservative and pliant president, in Mike Pence, who will obviously sign anything Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell place on his desk. Even if a conservative grassroots backlash leads to Republican members of Congress losing their seats in 2018, most of them will be replaced with equally conservative Republicans, who will then have another two years to continue to implement the full conservative agenda.

By then, everything will be decidedly fucked, and a Democrat may well win the presidency again, but at that point it practically won’t matter. Conservatives will have had plenty of time to follow through on their many bad ideas. The welfare state will be in ruins, the tax code more regressive than at any point since the ratification of the Sixteenth Amendment, major industries will be freed from burdensome regulations of their environmentally and socially destructive practices, we’ll probably be at war with Iran, the Supreme Court and the judiciary as a whole will be packed with stalwart young conservatives working tirelessly to eliminate abortion access and make it illegal to sue businesses for poisoning children, America will be a “right to work” nation, and it will be a felony to be rude to a cop. Conservatives can make their glorious dreams come true, if they just rid themselves of this troublesome president.

As soon as Donald Trump picked Pence, and not some more Trumpian figure, like Don King or his own daughter, he practically made this decision for them. It would be crazy not to impeach him.

Fiscal Conservatives' Hard at Work
via Kansas City Star:

The U.S. Senate approved a budget resolution early Thursday morning as part of its plan to repeal parts of the Affordable Care Act, known as Obamacare.

They had to take out the credit card to do it.

The resolution says the public debt will start at $20,034,788,000,000 (that’s $20 trillion+) in 2017, then rise to $29,126,158,000,000 ($29.1 trillion) in fiscal year 2026.

Yep, all those "fiscal" conservatives" hard at work blowing up the budget deficit. I keep wondering when the alleged "human beings" who vote for Republicans are gonna wise-up to their cons. Unfortunately, I already know the answer: NEVER!

Do you believe that humans will simply roll over and die if the govt doesn't provide subsistence?

Unless you're qualified for ss or truly disabled... get busy.

But we both know that won't happen.

Pretty darned skillful deflection move,Markle. Keep taking lessons from Kellyanne and soon you'll be as expert as she.

Don't worry... Donald Trump will add more than his fair share to the public debt. Republicans have been in on this scheme, too. After all, it was Reagan who showed everyone how to do it. In fact, a future Republican vice president told us all how deficits mattered for nothing....
