Man dissolves in acidic water after he falls into a Yellowstone hot spring

http://www.cnn.com/2016/11/17/us/yellowstone-man-dissolved-trnd/index.html

He and his sister ventured into a restricted area at Yellowstone, looking for a hot spring to go swimming in. He fell in, and either drowned or got boiled to death. A freak lightning storm prevented rescuers from retrieving the body until after about 24 hours. When they returned to the water pool, the body had mostly dissolved away. Apparently the water was not only hot, but also extremely acidic.

The sister apparently recorded some video of the incident on her cell phone. The Park Service has the phone and will not release the video to the public.

The 20-something year old lad deserves a Darwin Award for 2016!

When we visited with the kids about 20 years ago, the hot springs were clearly marked and roped off and we saw stupids intentionally crossing the roped areas with watches trying to get close when they would spurt.......it not only protects visitors, but first responders who have to put their life at risk because somebody is stupid. I have heard there has been a great deal of geological action in Yellowstone for the past decade and that we might expect an eruption in the park. I know we visited a year after the horrible fires and it was awful what damage those fires did. The Park is a national treasure, yet stupids want to get in hot springs and pet buffalo.........I can also guess what type of hat they might be wearing.

Interesting that the park service kept the phone. Maybe the sister pushed him?

Good mystery starter for a book! LOL
