If you think baying at the full moon is acceptable, then this is the party for you!  So sayeth one of the most honored professors at MIT, and a noted American socialist. His points make good sense.

When a socialist doesn't like you... you must have an ideology that is a danger to central govt collectivist crapola.

Good job... even though the small/limited govt message is watered down imo.

You truly misunderstand socialism. The idea is that the people should come first, not the ultra rich or biggest bloodsucking corporations. I know that galls you ... but it's true. You treat socialism like it was a tyrannical form of government. Democratic socialism -- the kind me and Bernie advocate is governed by the people through voting. I know that idea is foreign to guys like you, but give it the respect it deserves ...

A working efficient honest democratic Government is the biggest fear the Oligarch has in America today. So it is essential for a return to feudal times to destroy government incrementally. To make it appear inefficient, clumsy, and corrupt. Yes, at many levels government can fall short, but the key to good government is constant improvement. The people of this nation have a choice. Work hard to make government viable and improving, or allow the 1% to steal what is left, and have the Sheriff of Nottingham keep his boot on the American public. To accomplish the same requires fear......it is the oldest formula for tyranny. Courageous people remain free...........fearful people simply become serfs.

What people should come first ?   The parasitic class of lazy drug addled indiscriminate  baby making dregs on society or the hard working thoughtful people that strive to make good choices ?

America is the collective. Your attempts to demonize some worked in 1933 in Germany, and it is clear that fear is once again bringing out wussies in America, but Americans are tough courageous intelligent people......sell your race propaganda to fools, but America will overcome evil.

I still work, my family works, and yes I have seen a handful of people in my lifetime which fit your definition, but I have also seen people who have been beaten down and born into terrible situations where the system is rigged, and for those people I reject your generalizations, and think people should be accountable for their lives, but when an oppressive Oligarchy steals the wealth of this nation, you want to blame the victims. I want to blame the felons, and change the game.

I'm in my mid-fifites & I haven't worked for over 5 years. I've never received any sort of "welfare" benefits. Not food stamps, SSI, disability, etc ... none of that stuff.

Took me 30 years to finally game the system .... but I did it.

I know socialism... hence my opinion. It's not a matter of respect... I respect it's ability to ruin the human condition. It ignores human nature. Humans don't require an enormous omnipotent force to drive it's every choice. We as a species are very capable and resourceful given the opportunity and a level playing field. The govt should only function to ensure that fair process... along with the enumerated powers. Scary thght to a socialist... I know. But the corruption and whatever fixed/rigged system seagoat bleats about would the stripped if the central govt were stripped of it's enormous powers. The complete opposite of nanny state socialism.

I work because what I do matters. I will work until my last breath. I have friends that go into the office and work at 90. My mother worked taking folks to doctor appointments at 83. When I stop working because of health, I find the vacancy in my life obvious......and I can never get back to work soon enough. Now I am a guy who played 125 rounds of golf a year for the last thirty years and I have recreated and relaxed my whole life, but to give up work.....never.

Who decides who's "worthless"? Or a better question, who's more worthless...someone who works every day or someone who takes daddy's money and does absolutely nothing but manage those "investments", while whining about the lazy maid and gardener? The fact that you're willing to work hard doesn't mean that other people don't also work hard, even if it's tough for them to find jobs, or they have some illness, or an aged parent to care for, or a child with a disability. So, in summary, take your John Galt philosophy and shove it.

What a family does with their money is none of your business comrade. If a family breeds itself into poverty and despair it's not the govts problem. You seem to think people will just lay down and die without govt redistribution... I think that's bs... and if that person did they deserve it. I personally would love to (and I do) donate to the proven disabled or unable to care for themselves. Look at the generosity we show when a catastrophe happens in the world. We are the most compassionate country in the world with aid. You must have a demented opinion of your fellow human brings... that probably just originates from what you know of your of your own character flaws and project upon everyone. Keep your neuroses to yourself comrade.

I'm not talking about how money is spent...I'm talking about how it's EARNED. And it is my business to consider how money is spent, when our estate laws now allow almost unlimited inheritance with no tax burden. I doubt you have ever given anything freely with no benefit to yourself. Most of my fellow human beings are great people, but there are bad apples that contaminate the whole barrel, of which, you, no doubt, are one. Hence, your propensity to insult and accuse. And I'm not your "comrade".

No... it is NOT your business how a persons money is earned as long as it's legal and you weren't harmed. It's NOT your business either how they spend their money or whether they leave it for their descendents. That money was earned and taxed.

You're not my comrade... you are a comrade... comrade.

How do you suppose humans survived before central govt entitlements? Did nature suffer the lazy and apathetic? Was that cruel... or natural?

I don't know where you got the idea poor people were lazy and apathetic? It is the poor people who work for minimum wage and many many of them work their ass's off. They're the one's who serve you your dinner at restaurants, stock the shelves at Walmart and clean the bathrooms. Yet they don't make enough to survive. It's not easy being poor and many certainly don't choose it.

No, I didn't work for the govt. as I've said 100 times. I worked for a non profit that worked the poor people to death for a non living wage.

Oh that's much better...maybe Santa will forget this year and you will stop getting coal...

I don't get coal Teo. I spent my life helping poor people and the disadvantaged rather than bitch about what little they get and how I can give them less while I live high on the hog. I was never about that and never will be. I do, however; take a dim view of people who begrudge others who have so little.
