CHINA and other Asian countries
could end up at war over territorial disputes if governments keep up
their "provocative behaviour", US Defence Secretary Leon Panetta has
said.




Speaking to reporters before arriving in Tokyo on a trip to Asia,
Mr Panetta appealed for restraint amid mounting tensions over
territorial rights in the East China Sea and the South China Sea.
"I
am concerned that when these countries engage in provocations of one
kind or another over these various islands, that it raises the
possibility that a misjudgment on one side or the other could result in
violence, and could result in conflict," Mr Panetta said, when asked
about a clash between Japan and China.
"And that conflict would then have the potential of expanding."


Let's see we owe China Millions but have a security treaty with Japan..sooooo.?

This saddens me deeply. We need the muslims to kill eachother, not the orientals. The orientals contribite to global society. The muslims don't.

Anti-Japan protests erupt in China over disputed islands



Animosity between the two countries over the islands runs deep.

They have come to
represent what many Chinese see as unfinished business: redressing the
impact of the Japanese occupation of large swathes of eastern China
during the 1930s and 1940s.

China says its claim
goes back hundreds of years. Japan says it saw no trace of Chinese
control of the islands in an 1885 survey, so formally recognized them as
Japanese sovereign territory in 1895.

Japan then sold the
islands in 1932 to descendants of the original settlers. The Japanese
surrender at the end of World War II in 1945 only served to cloud the
issue further.

The islands were
administered by the U.S. occupation force after the war. But in 1972,
Washington returned them to Japan as part of its withdrawal from
Okinawa.

Teo is FOS. The Chinese have no offensive capbility to project military power except from city to city on mainland China. Their only carrier is 9 years from operational capability. (It takes 10 years or so to go from having a carrier to operating it in a competent manner.) We can remove Japan from the nuke umbrella that we currently provide and in less than a year the Japanese will have their own nukes. Yes, they are that capable.


As long as the US and China are intertwined economically, there is no war between China, the USA or any of its allies.

Thank you did you get that from the join Chiefs at your last session ? The Chinese have built a lot of subs and if you remember subs almost won the Naval war for Hitler..Nothing on the surface can match a sub....

This hasn't been in the news much.
There is still a lot of hostility between China and Japan. China calls WW2--'the anti Japanese war' or the 'Japanese war of aggression'.
These rocks that they're fighting over might seem silly, but remember that if a country owns land, they have an economic zone in the waters around those little islands.

POS subs of poor quality. As if we didn't have any of our own. Subs don't project forward invasion forces. Subs don't shoot down airplanes either. My info is based upon a term paper I wrote and about 30 sources of professional advisors/journal articles based upon people with expertise that have actual credentials behind what they purport as fact. I don't use Alex Jones as a primary source, sorry.

Oh ..I have hunted subs with destroyer groups in the Pacific . In the games themselves the subs won the majority of the time. Subs don't have to shoot down planes they just have to sink the carriers they ride on. That is entirely too easy for a sub. Even a crappy old sub with a determined crew and an intelligent captain. You are one of those gung-ho types that always underestimates his enemy...they usually die with a puzzled look on their face.
