Perth electrical engineer's discovery will change climate change debate

A MATHEMATICAL discovery by Perth-based electrical engineer Dr David Evans may change everything about the climate debate, on the eve of the UN climate change conference in Paris next month.

A former climate modeller for the Government's Australian Greenhouse Office, with six degrees in applied mathematics, Dr Evans has unpacked the architecture of the basic climate model which underpins all climate science.

He has found that, while the underlying physics of the model is correct, it had been applied incorrectly.

He has fixed two errors and the new corrected model finds the climate's sensitivity to carbon dioxide (CO2) is much lower than was thought.

It turns out the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has over-estimated future global warming by as much as 10 times, he says.

"Yes, CO2 has an effect, but it's about a fifth or tenth of what the IPCC says it is. CO2 is not driving the climate; it caused less than 20 per cent of the global warming in the last few decades".

Dr Evans says his discovery "ought to change the world".

"But the political obstacles are massive," he said.

There is another problem with the original climate model, which has been around since 1896.

While climate scientists have been predicting since the 1990s that changes in temperature would follow changes in carbon dioxide, the records over the past half million years show that not to be the case.

So, the new improved climate model shows CO2 is not the culprit in recent global warming. But what is?

Dr Evans has a theory: solar activity. What he calls "albedo modulation", the waxing and waning of reflected radiation from the Sun, is the likely cause of global warming.

He predicts global temperatures, which have plateaued, will begin to cool significantly, beginning between 2017 and 2021. The cooling will be about 0.3C in the 2020s. Some scientists have even forecast a mini ice age in the 2030s.

Because of this error entire industries have been attacked and pilloried.

Are these people giving us Common Core as well??

It's always been that there were simply too many variables and too little understanding of them. The models suck.

Atmospheric particle dynamics (which this article references) are not "settled science"... and there are many others.

Why? I have said this before: This was never intended to be a purely 'science' movement. It is a movement that is mostly political, and it aims to shore up the arguments for a global governing body. Why? Because there can never be a global consensus of all 196 countries  on climate change unless said countries are willing to submit to a global governing body which will regulate them over this issue.

James P. Warburg before the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations on February 17, 1950:

"We shall have world government, whether or not we like it. The question is only whether world government will be achieved by consent or by conquest."

I expect we will now be attacked for taking such a stance, but then it will be time to remind everyone to give up their fossil-fueled barbecue grills, stop eating beef, and start buying castoffs at Publix so the food will not be disposed of in their dumpster. Landfill salad is going to be on your menu, and you had better learn to like it. These are just a few minor things that the world climate change body will mandate. You have not yet seen everything they have planned for you.

Well whatever the causes, man-made or otherwise, don't discount the potential benefits of  few degrees of global warming .... the world can grow more crops in more places & have longer growing seasons.  Less energy usage in some cold areas.

Recall the Roman and Medieval warming periods.

Yes, southern Greenland was actually colonized by Vikings between 800 and 1200 AD. They could not really grow anything but barley, but they raised cattle, sheep, and dairy cows, and traded with Europe for vegetables and produce.

The worldwide population during the MWP ranged between 220-420 million, and fossil fuels had not yet been discovered. I wonder what warmed the world then? Certainly not man-made influence.

Soooo...you've lost the SCIENTIFIC arguments and now it's political.
