Yes, actually there is quite a lot of "evidence". Bergdahl mailed home all his personal belongings. His fellow soldiers stated that he intentionally walked off the base with his goal to be joining the terrorists.

Our soldiers were killed and maimed searching for him.

He has been charged with desertion and is facing his first hearing this month, unless it is extended again. For obvious reasons, Semi-retired President Obama does not want this in the headlines.
