Just ignore him.  There seems to be a concerted effort to achieve what you are asking which makes Boards the bad guy......ignore.  I ignore him on his bad days and have actually learned things when he is using his brain and sharing experiences and observations.  He is acting unusually caustic and hope he is ok and things in his life are ok, but you attacking him rather than ignoring him is counterproductive.
