The United States is losing its competitive edge.

So says a new report from the World Economic Forum which found the U.S. slipping in dozens of areas compared with just a few years ago. Perhaps most troubling is the conclusion that since 2008, the United States has slid from No. 1 in the world in "global competitiveness" to No. 7 this year.

Out-ranking America are: Switzerland, Singapore, Finland, Sweden, the Netherlands and Germany.

Sure, it's just a number. But the WEF's ranking takes into account a broad range of factors, from debt to corruption to regulation to red tape to education to health care.

And virtually across the board, the U.S. is falling behind.

What is "average unemployment"? Obama did not inherit 5.6% unemployment, nor did he inherit 52 months of consecutive job growth. The unemployment rate was 7.8% in January 2009, and we lost jobs every single month in 2008, and 800k jobs were lost in the single month prior to Obama taking office alone.

Sure, gas was $ 1.84 per gallon at the time because we were in the deepest recession since the great depression. Housing, stocks, and just about everything else had fallen off a cliff.

Regarding the debt, Obama inherited a $1 trillion + annual deficit and two wars. Contrast that with his predecessor - whom you probably voted for - who inherited a surplus and an economy virtually at full employment.

Of all the BS I have seen presented by ditto-heads during this election cycle, this has to be the most laughable. It has already been stated that republicans do not intended to let fact checkers direct this election cycle. It appears their base is perfectly OK with this.

It is true. Obama did not inherit a mess. The economy was strong and everything was moving in the right direction. Mitt Romney cured cancer and Paul Ryan never voted for anything that added to the deficit. Further, the US is no longer #1 on the list in question from the original post because we have done nothing but raise taxes over the last 30 years and essentially embrace socialism while never giving "supply-side economics" a shot. Facts! Hahahaha!

Not a stretch at all. Just a basic fact common to the economies of all of the countries listed.

but I suppose you felt compelled to post SOMETHING.

Are you projecting again, nobrain?

LMAO at more of the blame game.

obama had full run his first 2 years, now all of yall are so ready to place blame because thats all you ever do. its pathetic.

I dont even know why we have a president anyway if its the way you guys say it is. if the president cant get things done, even using his presidential orders, or however, whats the damn use of having one? or it could be that its just this one that is useless.
