James Patterson's "Alex Cross"

I read Alex Cross not to long ago and now see that it has been made into a movie. You can bet that I will go see it on release. What does boggle my mind though is who is playing Alex Cross in the movie. After watching most of the Madea series, I just cannot imagine Perry playing the lead role in a crime drama movie. He is more suited for comedy roles. But we shall see.
