I remember after Ivan when a lot of insurance companies operating in Florida just stalled on claims...and a friend of mine, who was my agent, got dumped by the company that he wrote the most business for...insurance companies aren't what you'd call loyal to their brokers.

I remember the demise of the travel agent........there still are a few, but the ability of the consumer to purchase something online does not bode well for those whose expertise was being able to sort through alternatives when there was no online alternative. My insurance man hates Obama. He had a general insurance agency with a great deal of commercial work, but his small employer plans have almost all dried up as employees have options online, and his revenues have gone down more than thirty percent. He is a good man and has been great finding the right commercial policy for my needs, but if these independent agents lose revenue from health insurance it is going to be increasingly difficult to get good advice as independent agents close down like travel agents.

My sister has worked in the insurance industry most of her life. She was employed by a large Dallas-area underwriter, but she got sick and they fired her...leaving her with no health insurance and in need of surgery. She couldn't get her meds.

If he is a commercial insurance agency he isn't doing much health insurance anyway.

I helped out a few this year that I wrote last year by directing them to cheaper company's than the one I represent, but I could not work for free and that is what I was getting paid for re enrolls, nothing. I felt bad by not helping but I'm straight commission and could not work for free. I am practically out of business and have been searching for other employment.

You either evolve with the times or die a slow death. What ever happened to the Pickett slide rule? Those who hawked Encyclopedia Britannica in those little sales booths at the mall?

Other giants will also evolve or fall. Wait until distributed-solar generation (on rooftops) starts taking a bite into Gulf Power's revenues.

You have to be kidding... the direction is that the failing are saved. What else do you suppose an insurance agent can do? I'm guessing a govt employee of some sort. On the corp level... the healthcare corps have been folded into the fascist govt protection.

People cry when they say our economy is faltering and then from the other side of their mouth they cry when our economy is running efficiently and is productive. Productivity is doing more with less resources. As to what insurance agents can do.........most I know had a real estate agency with their insurance agency. I have seen folks with large book of sales who can go anywhere and sell to their loyal customers. I do know that agents are taking a beating right now, but the lowering of health care costs means increasing productivity.........sadly the cost of health insurance and the administration of the same is all part of health care costs......why do you think Chrissy cried like a baby on this forum on how hard it was going to be to keep high paid employees when the procedure reimbursements were being cut to the bone. The health care inflation was unsustainable, and now has been all but stopped in its track.

Wrong the costs are shifted. Visit to a Sacred Heart medical group doctor before aca implemented, $20.00 and one bill from doc to insurance company. After co pay to doc visit then Sacred Heart hospital also sends bill and insurance company pays. Hospital has no right to send bill since the sacred heart doc was 20 miles from hospital. I have 131 claims last year on my year end health report. Did I go to the doctor or use services this many times, no way, there are doctor bills I have been trying to track down what the hell was my insurance company get billed for and why did they paid. Can't get no answer's and the insurance company just pays like clock work, no one gives a shit. Go over your explanation of benefits and year end statements and any bills you may receive, some things do not add up and neither the insurance company's or the health care fields give a shit. Health care costs are not contained and not going down, I don't give a shit what you or the govt says.

I've been in the business going on 20 years and I know hundred's of agents in the panhandle and I do not know a one who own's a real estate agency, I know a handful with real estate licenses, but they admit they cannot do both.

Commercial insurance agency's and life and health agency's are generally not the same, although there are a few. Usually a P&C agent does not want anything to do with life and health.

Health care inflation has been slowed. Fact Commercial insurance agents handle health care policies. Fact. Need an example of a combined agency....go to Milton Florida and drive 90 near downtown. fact Mistakes in health care billing. Fact Solution to health care billing.......medicare for all. Fact.

Next problem.

A friend had a thriving typewriter sales and repair shop which had been in the same location since the 1890s. His father had passed the business to him in 1980. By 1995 the business was gone and he was a college professor. For such a confused dogma, you really cannot get your story straight. Unfettered capitalism is good.....government is bad......yet when productivity in health care cuts costs.....yea team comrades. Please pick up a book, or return to school......a mind is such a precious thing to be wasted on confused theory or drugs.

Clearly you forum members on this subject know more about it than I.

That said, which online Find-the-cheapest-and-best-insurer for home and auto insurance would you recommend?

Thanks

Fact if you believe health care inflation has really slowed then you got a hold of that dope sooner than you thought.

Fact I never said commercial insurance agency's did not handle health insurance I said most would prefer not to and some are so big they have two division's, one P&C and one benefits. McMahon and Hadder, Fisher Brown both are dual agency's.
Facts those were no mistakes in billing they are a fact that if you use any sacred heart doctor regardless of where they are located Sacred charges a facility fee that appears you used the hospital, happens everytime.

So for those keeping score at home, Obama is a socialist communist fascist employing conservative trickle down economics.

Try to keep your laughter to a minimum. These people take this stuff seriously.

An Agent I have used in recent years and would recommend without hesitation here in Pensacola is Rusty Messick, Larry White Associates on Nine Mile Road, 850 479 3535. He reduced our windstorm and homeowners dramatically. I do not have autos insured through him but he also writes those as well. Hope this is helpful.
