As the world struggles to understand and cope with the rise of pan-Islamism and international jihadi terrorism within Western countries, one thing is becoming increasingly clear - the success of the Islamists is partly due to what I believe is a grand betrayal of civil society by the political left in Western democracies. Instead of leading the fight against the fanatics' religious obscurantism, they have embraced it.

When was the last suicide bombing in Israel?

It would also help a lot if Israel would allow food, untainted water, and medicines into Gaza, instead of just bombing the place with U.S. taxpayer-funded F-16s.

Schools, hospitals and school children were main IDF targets in the last Gaza war this past summer, Poindexter.

Blogs are not credible news sources, Poindexter. Reuters is a mainstream source.

Using F-16s and tanks against a hardscrabble force that has none of those is overkill. The IDF has been bombing Palestinian refugee camps, etc., since I was a teenager, and all it has accomplished has been to breed more fighters who want to kill Israelis. A failed policy, just like our own efforts to confront the Muslims. Just killing them does not work. A policy of moderation that attempts to at least slightly address the ills these people have might make serious gains toward peace in the region. However, I do realize that hotheads like yourself (and Israeli hardliners like Bibi Nuttyahoo) need to be pushed to the sidelines for this to ever happen.
