Hmmmm ... one side mumbles the inane advice that our planet is less than 7,000 years old, and that all the sciences who proclaim otherwise are mistaken.

The most disgusting and self-destructive aspect of the "every word of the Bible is historical fact" bunch (Herd? Flock?) is that they have been successful in forcing congress to make laws based on their idiotic belief system.
Abortion, for instance, doesn't appear in the Bible. And neither does Xmas.
And why should every elected official in Washington pretend he or she's deeply religious by attending mock prayer breakfasts, etc.?
I have a Tee shirt that shows a young, grinning Jesus riding on a dinosaur.
It strikes me that the same drooling bunch who declare that every word in their Bible is historically correct, also declare -- often with real venom --that all other religions are false and evil.
It wouldn't bother me much if all such fundamentalists were wiped out in a plague. We'd all be better off! God, where are you now that we need you??
