I must reserve time in front of the boob-tube on the late afternoon/early evening on Thursday, Jan 1st:

4:00 PM  ESPN  Rose Bowl (Semifinal)  FSU vs. Oregon.

7:30 PM  ESPN Sugar Bowl (Semifinal)  Alabama vs. Ohio State

Then, the winner of those two games meet on January 12th at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX. Game time is 7:30 PM, also on ESPN.

At least, they picked good-weather sites for the final games. I cannot wait!

Make no bones about it, I will NOT be rooting for FSU to win any of these last games played! I will be cheering instead for Oregon and Alabama. But watch-out for Ohio State--Remember that Urban Myer came from nowhere in 2006 to vault UF to the winner's circle. He might try that again, even without Barrett as QB.

Here are some Vegas odds:

If these odds are true, you will see Ohio State against FSU in the final game, with OSU favored......

I think fsu had a better shot at alabama... oregon can easily go score for score with jameis.

The young d just hasn't gotten it together yet.

Osu without barrett just doesn't seem likely... even though they trounced wisconsin.

I think I need to correct you......those high ratios indicate that a person betting on those two teams will get more money because they are expected to lose. Vegas is saying Oregon and Alabama.

Thanks, Seaoat..... I have never been much of a bettor or gambler, so I must say I do not really understand how to do odds in betting (I even Googled it, too)... Razz

Hey, and if Oregon QB Marcus Mariota wins the 2014 Heisman Trophy, it will be outgoing Heisman winner against incoming Heisman winner. This game will be super exciting to watch...

I have never bet on sport book. It makes no sense. At best you are guaranteed to lose 10%. All the people I know do it because they love sports and it is an additional method to get them hyped up about a game. Silver is encouraging the NBA should be bet. The day will come where you are about to watch a nationally televised game and millions will travel from people sitting on their couch to sports booking, and the government will take some.....the book will take some, and the leagues will get some.....that day is not far away with the legalized fantasy gambling going on right now. I really only enjoy the social and competitive nature of poker, and for recreation some carnival games at a casino, but I know I cannot win in a carnival game.....just a temporary illusion.....I can win in poker because poker like chess and bridge is a skill game.

At 7-1 some fans on this forum could make some money if they honestly believe this team is worthy. I would not bet ten dollars on FS if it was 25 to 1. However, if Pace is sure they are the best team.....hop on a plane, get an expensive room, enjoy great meals, and the shows, and have it all paid by the certainty that FSU is going to win........odds makers are usually pretty good on these sort of matters, but heck.....after listening about how good they are.....get your free vegas trip fans.....it is a sure thing........not

I grew up playing gin rummy, seven card stud, and razz... all more skillful than nlhe. I'm not much for gambling either.

I'm not much for gambling either.

I'm for winning.

It pains me to say it, but the smart money is on the Ducks.

Write it down.

I saw your banter with the Russian, I could tell you enjoyed the social aspect of poker, and the competition. I am not saying gambling is morally wrong, but for the most part is very stupid to play if you are not doing it for recreation. If you are playing it to have fun, and can afford the losses, I say go for it. However, I have a golfing buddy who drops $500 a month on sports book and he has NEVER had a year where he won. It got so bad that a mutual friend who is his book, gave him a $1,000 free play because he is so awful. However, the man is 72 and he is having one good time in life, his mind is active, and he entertains us with his whining every time we watch a game with him.....it is hilarious.....but fortunately he can afford his losses and he has fun.

I was just making sure the russian called when I played back at him. I let him think I had bluffed him earlier.

But you're right... I enjoy the table banter... and I just play for enjoyment now.

I will also be rooting for the Ducks. Especially if Marcus Mariota is the 2014 Heisman winner. Maybe that will help him put some magic on the football down in Pasadena.

I'm just ready for the Seminoles to turn into one of those One Loss Teams. They have had plenty of opportunities to lose a game this season; now it just needs to finally happen. Perhaps all of the bad karma from this season will finally take its toll on Winston as he throws the interception that seals the game for Oregon.

I predict the Oregon v FSU game will be like this

http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/recap?gameId=290020333

I think Western teams get the least respect of any conference, yet they consistently surprise teams which are suppose to be better.

I think the team that wins the fsu/oregon game will have to score close to fifty points...

and oregon is the best suited to do that this year.

Oregon looked good for the games I have watched, but as much as this pains me, Alabama looks pretty resilient. They just have so many weapons on both side of the ball.

They're susceptible to the big play. I think they can be in trouble if someone can get a lead on them too.

Regardless, we are in for some fabulous football on January 1st and 12th. I am sure we will be talking about it heavily here.

I am ready to fast-forward through Christmas to the bowl-games already. Imagine... The first ever college football playoffs... We will be seeing history unfold, and it should be exciting!

I may pick-up on a few of the other bowl games as well, along the way.
