Former enemy Vietnam seeks U.S. help to counter China

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2014/08/17/vietnam-war-dempsey-visit-counter-china/14185033/

General Martin Dempsey, the chairman of the JCS, recently visited Vietnam and was warmly received by the country, which is seeking closer ties with the U.S. to offset China.

Dempsey's Army career has spanned 40 years, but he was too young to have served in the Vietnam War, and had never been to the country before.

I'm sure they want us to be their ally as Nam falls in the sphere of influence in which China can and will flex their muscle.

China has begun rumbling about long settled territory and lines. I wouldn't want to be directly in their path.

Unfortunately for China, they have little way of making amphibious assaults on beaches. Oh, they can load up a crap ton of dudes on freighters and the dearth of landing craft they have, but to take Taiwan, they better think of nukes.

Australia has taken notice and has began a massive military build-up of their own. I am sure the Chinese are eyeing the Australian subcontinent as a place that is under-populated, where they could send some of their 1.3 billion after conquering the landmass.

Why? A lot of the Australian continent is uninhabitable. China has plenty of room, but everyone congregates on the coast.

Have to agree, and two thousand years of defense and not offense, tells you a great deal more than turning them in to a colonial power.

So, in your opinion, Communist China is no threat to the rest of the World?

And you're a TEACHER? The thread is about Vietnam, not Taiwan. Try and grasp the concept, these are two different countries ....

Count up the wars by the U.S. since WWII, now do the same for China ... right. The U.S. is the biggest threat to the rest of the world!

Fire back with your Nazi insignia shit ... LOL
