I threw away boxes of DC comics from the fifties which were in the attic.......however, the memories of learning to read on DC comics and the imagination of a child.....priceless. In the early seventies those boxes were just junk taking up space. A friend of mine put his daughter through college on the baseball card collection he kept in pristine shape........one person's junk is another's gold.

Hell I've thrown away things that today I could retire if I had held on to them and sold them this day and age. I had a 1970 six pack challenger same color orange as today. Someone on a street over from me has a new orange one and when he goes by my house it makes me sick I did not hold on to that. My first car was a 1956 Chevy.

When I was in high school I had someone offer me a running 1958 Corvette for $500.
Man how I wish I'd had the $500 at the time...

In 1964 I bought a 1953 Jaguar XK-120 for $600.00.  It was one of the models they built to race at the 24 hours of Le Mans.  Incredible car for its time.  It actually had an all aluminum body and the door frames were made of wood for light weight.  Probably wouldn't pass safety standards today.

To this day it had the highest top end speed of any other car I have owned.  The dumb things we do as youngsters.  I ran it up to 140 a number of times.  Those were the days when a car with 12,000 mile guarantee was good and there was no such thing as radial tires.  When I ran it at 140, it still had more in it but my heart was pounding so hard I slowed down.  The twin side draft carburetors seemed to have fire hoses running to them from the gas tank.  Sadly, I couldn't afford it, the gas and maintenance and go to college.  Alas, I sold for the same thing I paid, $600.00  Feel almost as bad as having sold my first Harley.

Mine was red.
