California regulators have approved $500 per day fines for water-wasters. And, neighbors are snitching on the water-wasters next door.....

Drought Shaming: Californians Snitch on Neighbors Who Waste Water

There was a story on the radio where a California man who was found to have a leaky toilet was charged with wasting water. His sentence was to attend a one-day Water School or pay a $3K fine. Imagine, attending a whole day of indoctrination on how to not waste water.

I told my brothers and my sister, who live in California, that I wished I could have piped them some of the runoff after we got 27" of rain here in 12 hours on April 28th. What is a little flooding after seeing how it is out west?

The good news on that flood is that Indian bayou and trout bayou over on Garcon point blew the openings to the bayou wide open with sand which had accumulated. People are getting four and five feet of depth in low tide, and it used to be so bad that you had to enter and leave during high tide......huge benefit for people on Garcon Point, so I guess the old saying about storm clouds having silver linings is partially true.

Why can't we have some kind of pipeline system to send water long distances? And what is being done to reclaim the desert and semi-arid regions?
