Elon Musk Now Going to Build Huge Solar Panel Factory in U.S.

Elon Musk hopes to use massive economies of scale to achieve a breakthrough in the cost of solar power. He wants to offer more efficient solar panels at lower cost, and lay the groundwork for unsubsidized solar power to outcompete fossil-fuel grid power.

I have no doubts he will accomplish this. Before 2020, solar grid power was set to become cheaper than coal-fired grid power without Musk’s effort.

If anyone can do it he can. It would be nice to have a major supplier of quality solar panels - if we can just keep the Chinese from dumping their inferior but heavily subsidized panels again. I'd do my whole roof if it was affordable but the ROI just isn't there yet.
