The truth is, we've become a nation of "guns solve all problems" crazies.

It's not the guns' fault. We should round-up and stone to death all the owners of magazine fed semi auto weapons with a capacity larger than three rounds! I'm getting my rocks together as soon as it stops raining.

I'm sure all this slaughtering of innocent students would stop if they allowed creationism to be taught as a science and started every class with a good Christian prayer, and all teachers were carrying an AK or M-4.

Just sayin' . . .

You left out video games... and a strange sensitivity that young people seem to have about being disrespected.

Life has become cheap... empathy is a govt program... pride has little to do with self-reliance or accomplishments.

A transformation like this that reaches the core of human nature must be cultivated and slowly become the norm.

In a few generations the positive feedback we feel upon earning or even doing the best one can will be a forgotten trait.

HUff Po...nuf said...politicizing it won't solve it. Considering that there are way more many schools in this country than weeks in the year, it's not hard to see that there could be a shooting once a week in a GUN FREE ZONE. Criminals that do not follow the law have a lot of easy targets.

Data regarding school districts/schools, which are all gun free zones in the United States.

http://www.edreform.com/2012/04/k-12-facts/#schools

TOTAL NUMBER OF PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICTS: 13,588 (Digest of Education Statistics: 2011, Table 98) - See more at: http://www.edreform.com/2012/04/k-12-facts/#schools

TOTAL NUMBER OF K-12 SCHOOLS: 132,183 (Digest 2011, Table 98) Elementary: 88,565 Secondary: 27,427 Combined: 14,895 Other: 1,296 - See more at: http://www.edreform.com/2012/04/k-12-facts/#schools

52 WEEKS IN A YEAR.

So as you can see, schools make a target rich environment for lunatics. There are already more guns on the streets than even the police can collect. There are more lunatics than cops, even military combined to keep track of across the country.

* Restricting guns moreso than they already are isn't the answer.

* Some answers might be in giving districts across the nation the ability to arm up teachers already on campus instead of waiting for cops to show up and be reactive to events that occur daily. That law is going to pass in the legislature this year in Florida.

* Telling every gun owner that they are going to have their weapons confiscated will only start a civil war.

* Threats of more draconian gun legislation have only made the sales of guns skyrocket and people hoard ammo.

* Politicizing the issue only throws gas on the fire as well.

We've made schools gun free zones and it has not worked. Time to try something else.

You nailed it!

I must add lack of moral values. Life has no meaning.

Yeah  our president has an ego the size of Texas but what has he ever done to earn it? Was he an industrial titan, a general in victorious command,  a courageous civil rights champion?  Nope just a pot smoking huckster with a secretive  shady background

Oh snap! Teo hits the nail on the head.

Are all schools "gun free zones"? Even in Texas?

Sorry to leave you hanging.

I googled and it turns out that all schools are gun free zones, and have been so since 1990, so only a criminal would bring one to within 1000 ft. of a campus.

I'm guessing that includes parking lots.

And to think kids used to bring their shotguns and rifles to school during hunting season. My how times have changed.
