I agree, we should have never let the Marines save the PLO and Yasser Arafat, but we did and now look at the mess Israel is in because out of the PLO was born Hamas and Hezbollah. Had the IDF been allowed to complete their mission and push Yasser and his boys into the Med, rockets would not rain into Israel today. And, by the way, it was investigated, and Reagan never lied about it. He never allowed his SOS to lie about it or the minions under that SOS. Reagan took the blame as well as the Marine Commander (Col Gergheraty who slept on the LHA and not on the ground each night with his troops). That aforementioned MAU commander never earned his star because of it. By the way, Congress which was Democratically controlled (Tip ONeill the drunkard was Speaker), approved his use of force in Lebanon.
