West Virginia’s Democrat-majority House of Representatives approved a bill earlier this month to raise the State’s mandatory minimum wage to $8.75 per hour above the Federal minimum wage of $7.25.

Except for Legislative staffers.

What a wonderfully conservative idea. Now all WV government workers; including the executive, legislative, and judicial branch; should be given a pay cut of 20% or more (including to their benefits) so it pays more to be a employee in the private sector.

Eagle this is the core value of the old Republican Party, and it is the value which this nation must return. The Washington DC metropolitian area has seen the largest per capita income increase in the nation as the private sector jobs shrink. Lower incrementally over 20 years government pay, and increase the minimum wage over the next 20 years to the 1967 levels adjusted for inflation and you have a conservative solution which works.

That doesn't make any sense. There is not a chance that any staffer is paid less than $10.00 or $20.00 per hour. Unless they are concerned about their interns.

I would generally agree, however have you been to West Virginia? The old mountain saying is that "there are only two things which are good in West Virginia.....high sulfur coal, and those folks who were genetically damaged from the same and moved out of the state." Okey L Patteson

I think you are right.....West Virginia is known for their coal's low sulfur content

You know Mr. Markle, I stand corrected. It really is Illinois who has the high sulfur content in their coal and it was Rod who was quoted as saying "there are only two things which are good in Illinois.....high sulfur coal, and those folks who were genetically damaged from the same and moved out of the state and teach a real estate class about a new protected class........sulfur babies. Florida is open minded, they will take the high sulfur coal and the sulfur babies, but they do get uncomfortable about North siders from Chicago.
