When it comes to kidney transplants, it will soon no longer be first come, first served.

New rules, which go into place this year, will change the way kidneys from deceased donors are allocated across the country and hopefully balance out wait times for those who need one and improve their long-term survival.

I have mixed feelings about this and I see a potential for abuse. Let me take that back, I don't like it, I see a HUGE potential for abuse.

basically what this is you know is, grandma and uncle take a pill, but the younger ones get one. and im happy for the younger ones, but I have a issue with basically just letting people die like this, or sentence them to death because of their age.

oh and don't forget, the rich will just buy one now, very easy im sure, no wait list requirement.

So the talk about Obamacare having death panels was/is true... I'm sure it was all due to those Republican obstructionists and Bush for allowing Obamacare to be enacted into law.

That last part of that was dedicated to FT, Dreams, and all the other supposedly enlightened progressive liberals for their continual support of blaming everyone but themselves...

Just wait until the government figures out they can save millions of lives by making it possible to take organs from criminals they have in prison and make Larry Niven's future history come true.

Convicted of walking on the grass one to many times you're a mandatory volunteer for organ transplants buddy...

This message was brought to you by the Republican obstructionists and Bush who would normally oppose such measures but who will be blamed for them happening anyway.

how am I a socialist? because I don't think human organs should be sold to the highest bidder? but prefer a first come first serve method?

Always been this way for christ sake. My sister was on the transplant list several years ago at Shands and UAB, along came alonzo mourning with esrd and wham he had a new kidney in a month, said it wasn't bought and paid for, we all know that was bullshit. The most money and most publicize received the transplants 10 years ago and they will today.

I understood that transplants were adjusted according to priority... not sure how tilted that scale may be though.

Pretty sure there is a federal agency or two over it tho.

No it has not always been this way. It has always been 1st come 1st served. you get on a list. at mayo they would give you a beeper to keep while waiting.

if something was done out of the ordinary with your sister, I would sue.

but now you can bet the wealthy will have theirs first.

Its obvious whats occurring. Cash will become king and all the little peasants on Medicaid supplements will fall to the bottom. Watch
