9 out of the 10 poorest states in the US are red. 9 out of the 10 richest states in the US are blue. Forum conservatives, why is that?

Help me understand this, forum GOP supporters.  Why is it that our most desolate US states are predominately red, and our most prosperous are predominately blue?  This reality doesn't fit with your narrative, so I'm curious as to how you reconcile this.

This is particularly amazing when you consider the fact that blue states are net tax payers and red states are net tax receivers.  Wealth is quite literally being redistributed from blue states to red states, and even with that generous welfare...poverty.

They are measuring per capita income. we all know income up north is higher due to the cost of living. The south also has a lot of immigrants.

I'm not home now but when I am I will blow this mis-contrued assumption out of the water.  Smile

It might however explain why the red states are so desperate to get bills done approprietly in reagrds to welfare reforms, give aways etc because by looking at individual states in these states you will see there is a huge number of dems in these states. however, in many of these states in the past it was almost impossible to get them to vote. But now by buying thier votes as your team has recently used more vigorously it worked, and all of a sudden florida became a blue state. wa la.... floridas demographics hasnt changed from 2004 to 2008 or 2012. think about that. and then think abut the population in miami and orlando...

Those "best run states" are essentially federal welfare cases. They are net federal tax receivers. The opposite is the case for the "worst run states".

If California wasn't paying $50 million in net federal taxes, it probably wouldn't be a "worst run state".

If North Dakota wasn't receiving $3 million in net federal taxes/spending - an amount equal to the entire state budget - it probably wouldn't be a "best run state".

LOL. Imagine if California paid no federal income tax, and instead received stimulus from the federal government that equaled the entire state budget. "Wow, that is really well ran state!"

I see. So the reason red states are typically poor and vice versa is because conservative states have lots of democrats? Interesting. And why are blue states rich? Is it because they have lots of republicans?

Seems to me that using income levels to determine whether a state is rich or poor is an overly simplistic way to assess the standard of living in each state.  Does the median California family earning $57k per year have a better standard of living than the median Tennessee family earning $42k per year? My guess is no.

not necessarily. but now don't over look the FACT at how they are measuring this, by income levels. why don't you ask yourself why is it so expensive to live in blue states?

They must have so many more people on the dole that everything is higher, hence high incomes to take care of those people. and in red states they also have high populations of people on the dole but must be managing their funds better to off set it.

what states have the highest welfare?
http://www.economicpolicyjournal.com/2013/10/11-states-that-have-more-people-on.html

what states have the highest minorities, who we know vote dem majority?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:USMajorityMinorityStates.png

and what states have the highest cost of living?

http://www.cnbc.com/id/48058145/page/7

now, if youre fair, you can put that data together and answer the question.

if your not, then you can keep lying to yourself

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_taxation_and_spending_by_state

or if your really smart, you might figure out why we need better policies to get people working and off the gov tit and also stop illegal immigration.

$50 MILLION in California is chump change compared to what they spend and how much they are in debt.

$3 MILLION is less than what the Stimulus Plan, of President Barack Hussein Obama spent on a TURTLE TUNNEL here in Tallahassee.

How many times have we seen this same tired thread? Obviously Progressives are running in a panic.
