Officials searched for the unidentified object in the area of SR-52 and Mission Gorge Road, but found nothing and said it was likely a meteor. A number of locals called authorities with reports of an object flying through the sky and falling in Santee early morning Tuesday, according to a report by NBC 7. Officials searched for the unidentified object in the area of SR-52 and Mission Gorge Road, but found nothing and said it was likely a meteor. Several reports came into the San Diego County Sheriff's Department around 5 a.m. Tuesday and deputies searched with the help of Heartland firefighters in the area where witnesses said the object fell. NBC 7 reports that no aircraft were unaccounted for by Gillespie Field and said that two meteor showers were potentially visible from Santee at the time.

There were at least a dozen trails in the twilight sky tonight.

My kid said, "look at all those planes, Dad.".

I said, "how do you know they're not meteors?".

I thought about you and ISON when I said that.
