Sanders Introduces Single-Payer Bill in Senate Sen. Bernie Sanders on Monday introduced the American Health Security Act, which would require each state to set up a single-payer health care system and undo the private insurance exchanges that have plagued Obamacare. Meanwhile, state-led efforts in Vermont, Massachusetts and elsewhere could sweep the country statehouse by statehouse as soon as lawmakers see the advantage of a single-payer system. “As the president fully understands, the rollout has been a disaster, the website has been a disaster,” said Sanders. “But the truth is, even if all of those problems were corrected tomorrow and if the Affordable Care Act did all that it was supposed to do, it would be only a modest step forward to dealing with the dysfunction of the American health care system,” Sanders told The Daily Beast.

Can the federal government force states to create social programs?

Isnt there some constitutional problem here?

I am shocked, SHOCKED I SAY!

A Socialist advancing SOCIALISM!

Why do you suppose Sen. Bernie Sanders is determined to undermine the quality of health care in America?

Oh hell, let's just go back to the insurance company rip offs and let folks continue to lose their life savings/assets because they got sick, I mean efforts to improve our healthcare delivery system was so perfect as it was. It's embarrassing in a way that collectively we cannot muster the will to lift all for the greater good. I'm an idealist I suppose . . . .sigh

No problem, single payer will generate a supplement sale on everyone, this could be better than obamacare. Heehaw.

Think about it, if it's anything like Medicare there will be several gaps and you better believe these evil insurance company's will design a supplement to cover those gaps. One nightmare could be the govt would also have you sign up for the supplement's on CMS website, which you can do for advantage plans now.

To tell the truth if obamacare went away today it would not hurt my feeling's. It's been a hassle from the start and if and when any commission's are paid we won't see until April, which have been greatly reduced. By then it will be known if anyone paid their premium's for Jan and Feb and with Christmas coming up very shortly I would imagine that some will decide, do they want a Christmas or health insurance. Christmas will probably win out.

Then there is the website which they work on everyday and their methodology for figuring subsidy's is mind boggling. It certainly depends on age, kids and it seem's anyone above 305% of poverty level just isn't receiving one.

BTW I used to see unicorn's back in the 60's, I sure do believe in them.

theres something you've over looked all this time. I didnt think insurance companies are evil.

with that said, now that the gov is dictating to them, they could be now.

and while im at it, another thing I don't think people get. Im an advocate for CARE in health care. But perhaps we should re-define what this is called for all the progressives, since they love to rename words.. we can call it Health-access.... just leave the care out lol

You're gonna lose it with Obamacare or this. With Obamacare you lose it all up front.

Assuming that open competition is allowed by our dear leaders... the previous system didn't end up where is was by chance.

Now, let's get serious for a moment. Old Bernie should be legalizing wacky tobacky first, then sit back with all the D.C. crowd to smoke a legal joint and discuss this single payer system he is proposing for state's. Is it really working in the couple of states it is already in? If anything go John McCain's route and ease everyone into Medicare over a 5 year period.

Part A hospital coverage now has no premium and is free to everyone who worked their 40 quarters or is disabled.

Part B anything outpatient is for most people $104.90 this and next year and increases for higher income individuals. Leave this to gradually increase by the cpi each year.

Impose a minimal premium on Part A on everyone and this just might take care of the problem of funding Medicare for all. Of course I am no actuary but most people try to stay away from hospital admission's.

Then take the taxes either from the legalization of marijuana or online gambling and earmark for the National Medicare fund and raise all fee's to the medical profession so they will have incentive's to stay in their profession.

I know this idea sounds like someone up in D.C. smoking that joint with old Bernie.

In the obamacare fascist directive there is a built in risk corridor that will automatically bailout the ins corporations.

dumpcare

Yes, the risk corridor does bailout the insurance company's.

Can you even imagine what may happen if all the major insurer's went down the tubes?

Chrissy is right seaoat I am just an insurance salesman, I know a lot about health, life insurance, ltc and some about index annuity products but not health care, there is a difference. I do not have a degree in risk management, all my study's on the subject at hand has been through company training, reading online, 20 years experience and insurance journals. I started online classes through the American college several years ago to either obtain the CLU or RHU designation, but found selling and classes to time consuming and had to decide to make a living or continue to take classes for the designations.

Yes, especially since it would be President Barack Hussein Obama forcing them out of business with obscene regulations.

Instead, President Obama uses tax payer money in a futile effort to FIX THE PROBLEM HE MADE.
