The unprecedented concentrations of sea life at Monterey, California include anchovies in mile long crowds, thousands of Sea Lions showing up and Pelicans arriving in one military style formation after another. Add 19 Orca and 200 Humpback whales and it becomes clear that something is going wrong at Monterey Bay. According to a Nov. 24 New York Times article, marine biologists and long time residents say they have never seen such things before.

The Humpbacks and pelicans would have gone south, as far as Mexico, weeks ago. Never have they stayed in such numbers and never have they stayed for so long. The most obvious start is at the bottom of the food chain: the anchovies.

A rise in terrible sounding diseases like bluetongue and epizootic hemorrhagic disease has wildlife biologists upset. According to a Nov. 18 article in the Missoulian, the rise in mass die-offs has affected birds, bats, mammals and reptiles from Wyoming and Montana to the rest of the western U.S.

A new fungus is killing bats. It is called White Noise Syndrome. The rise in west nile virus, brucellosis, avian cholera, wasting diseases and hemorrhagic diseases is astounding.

Scientists are sure the cause is bacterial or viral in origin. However, something is lowering the animal's natural immunities
