No big surprise, things get worse for the middle and lower income worker. Progressives here are trying to put lipstick on a pig but the economy continues it's downward spiral.

720,000 LEAVE LABOR FORCE IN OCTOBER! NOW LOWEST LABOR PARTICIPATION RATE SINCE 1978

On Friday, the Labor Department reported that 720,000 Americans left the labor force. This exodus pushed the labor force participation rate down to 62.8%, the lowest level since 1978. One out of three adults is neither working nor actively looking for work.

Some observers attribute the sharp drop to the shutdown and the furloughed federal workers. Even if that were the case, and it is unclear why these workers would be counted as not in the labor force, the number of Americans exiting is still significant. The total number of adults not in the labor force in October rose 932,000 to almost 92 million. (see note below)

Overall, the jobs report showed employers adding 204,000 jobs in October. Almost half of these job gains were in the retail and hospitality sectors. The adult population, however, grew by 213,000, meaning that the better than expected jobs number fell short of keeping pace with population growth. The economy needs to add many more jobs to bring discouraged workers back into the labor force.

Ahhhh so easily manipulated by Mr. Markle's silly charts which comfortably fail to account for one very important fact. 10k babyboomers a day are leaving the labor force and entering some phase of retirement. Nice try. I do see some people did bite.

Although many businesses are using retirement as a means to cut back, and often do not replace people because of a policy of attrition and not lay off, the 200k jobs is a real gain. It is really amusing that as folks are retiring, the process of the babyboomers aging has been blamed on the President. Priceless.

How many of them are way under the age 65 and being placed on SSDI because their unemployment ran out?

2seaoat...PLEASE share with us how 200,000 jobs is a "REAL GAIN" when there was a NET LOSS of over 700,000 jobs. Is this more of the Progressives fuzzy math?
