Thanks,  Ichi.  Right now I would gladly take a stroke, a seizure and pneumonia if I could trade this lower back pain for it. Percoset aint even fazing it.

Have you seen a neurosurgeon yet??  I very very highly recommend Marcus Schmitz..  He replaced 3 ruptured discs and fused the vertebra in my neck in Feb 2001 and it was instant relief..  He also shaved a bulging disc in my mom's lower back about 10 yrs ago and she hasn't had any problems..  I've recommended him to at least 10 people and never had any complaints when they saw me after the surgery.. He works out of West Florida Hospital, but my surgery was at Sacred Heart..

On February 1st (Medicare) or Jan 1st (if I get on obamacare) I'm going to see a neurosrugeon and every other medical specialist and get every treatment known to medical science, including psychiatry, Jake.
My goal is to make the government and the insurance companies spend a million dollars on me and if that doesn't work I'm gonna have them spend another million.

According to Carl/Bill you can get a same day appointment with a neurosurgeon, if you have good insurance. No referral needed......

Of course the referral I was referencing had nothing to do with insurance....it was because of specific specialists appointment requirements. But with do I know about it.

I called and saw him on a Friday and saw him Monday afternoon in August.. He asked if I wanted surgery the next day but I couldn't because I just started a new job that Monday.. I delayed it until Feb, then had to miss 2 weeks of work due to not being able to drive or even ride in a car for 2 weeks until the bones started to fuse good.. 2 weeks sitting at home drove ne totally nuts.. I walked around the block a few times a day just to get out of the house.. That was before I knew about any P'cola forums.. LOL

I have known and worked in the same setting with him for years....I highly recommend Dr. Schmitz.

He treated my grand daughter when she had a skull fracture. I got word to him, at his home through the Medical Center clinic operator @10 pm that my grand daughter had a serious head injury and we were headed to SHH by ambulance......Dr Schmitz arrived in the ER 2 minutes after the ambulance. She had xrays, CT scan and was transported to her in- patient room by 11 pm.

He is very caring.

I worked at shh for most of the eighties... it was the best run hosp I ever worked in or with. Things began to change towards the end tho when a non nun was named administrator. Some changes were good as far as technology investment... but it changed the feel of the place in some way. Friends I maintained have lamented that turn as a corp sterilization to some degree.

Women and Childrens Hospital, as far as I have observed, gives good care.  I had surgical privledges in the late 90's through 2002 we did numerous cases there.....the main OR and Surgery center were impressive.
