Who built that nice freeway in the picture that allows his customers easy access to his bidness?

Are people just being willfully ignorant now, or were Obama's comments really that cryptic?

I would assume that he and/or his investors did.

Now, who built that nice freeway in the picture that allows his customers easy access to his bidness?

The state or county government built the road for the good of the people in the county or state. They did not build the road for the good of the business owner.

Because the government builds the roads and bridges we use in our everyday lives to get around and shop at various businesses. I guess you narrow minded liberals think the government should just nationalize all businesses. Afterall they built the roads.

OK, here's what Obama actually said;

"If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business. you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet."

Now, for a one-question IQ test:

What was Obama saying that the individual business owner did not build?

Take all the time you need.
scratch

People are not "ignorant" because of their interpretation of Obamas comments. Given his professional inexperience and total lack of experience in managing a private business it's no wonder these folks are disgusted with what they perceive as an arrogant and uninformed comment.

:

The internet was not created for that reason. It was created for scientists to exchange research data. Commercial applications began much later.

Surely the president is not saying that businesses dont pay for infrastructure. Is that what you are suggesting?

Imagine what liberals would have made of Bush saying this Exclamation

Well, I put the entire quote including context up and they're still walking into doors trying to understand it. Only two things could explain their responses in this thread - willful ignorance or mind-numbing stupidity.

Well, they are ignorant due to their willful misinterpretation of Obama's comments.

Oh you mean like the Bain hysteria that has been discredited by anyone with a brain yet is still being tossed around like a mullet at the Florabama by ultraliberals and Obama staffers? Yes, the hypocrisy continues.

It's nice for Obama to have all these interpreters tell us ignorant ones what Obama really means when he makes his gaffes. Wink

Apparently some people think others are ignorant if they have the gall to disagree with anything put forth by the Great, the Magnificant, the Omniscient, Emperor with No Pants Man behind the curtain, the one, the only, The Great Narcissist himself, Barack Hussein Oblamer.

Let me say right off the bat that anyone who has a successful business has put in many hours and risked money and taken time away from their family, chosen employees, etc. in order to be a success. No one is taking that away from the successful person. However, even with all these personal and very important contributions there was a support structure in place that we need to acknowledge. That is what Obama was referring to.

As for all the entities that contributed to the success of this man's business let me count the ways government or the rest of the community contributed to his success, including but not limited to: the educational system, legal system, transportation system, power grid, years of industrial development upon which we all build (we stand on the shoulders of previous generations).

Go to Somalia and try to do what this man or any other business person has done and see how impossible it would be.

As for those of you who love calling the President arrogant, I say people like this tasteless jerk with his insulting and ignorant sign conveniently overlook all the "help and support" they got as a result of living in a great country like this.

If it is so simple why do all the Oblamer lovers feel it necessary to define, interpret, and clarify what the guy said?

Because of the misinterpretation that's been floating around by people who didn't take the time to read Obama's whole statement and what the context of the entire speech entailed.

Because the right wing hates to admit that without the government creating laws and all the other systems I've mentioned the entrepreneurs would be no where.
Because the government is important. It is the foundation upon which everything else is built and the wingers are constantly badmouthing the government as being our enemy.
The short answer is that explaining Obama's statement is required for those who are unwilling/unable to understand his meaning.
