That looks liked the next to last bid was an error... that wasn't a real market value was it?

I didn't mean to link the bid history page.  I've edited it and changed it to the completed listing page.
Yes that's an actual completed auction and a real sale.  The winning bidder was John Tefteller.
Tefteller is to record collecting what Sothebys or something is to the art world.  He travels farther and spends more than just about any other record dealer.  But he's also a collector and has one of if not the best collections of the rarest records out there.

The rarest samples of pre-war blues 78's (the really crude delta blues stuff) is currently the hottest item in record collecting.
People like the early blues artists Robert Johnson and Son House are highly sought after.
But Tommy Johnson must be the rarest of the rare.  That's the highest price I've ever heard of for a record sold on eBay.

Pkr,

Read this NY Times article and you will see what crazy madness all this is about...

I'm glad my hobbies weren't that expensive... I collect old mitchell fishing reels. They have increased some in value and there is a market... but I can use my fishing reels without risk of losing a fortune.

I just noticed this on Tefteller's website. It explains everything about the record in question.
