I'm having a terrible bout of insomnia... 0316 Pacific time. Still can't sleep. Good thing I make my own hours for work these days!
I like many different types of music ranging from Classic Country, Blues, and Bluegrass to Industrial Metal and Underground Punk, and everything in-between. Not such a modern rap fan, although I do have several old school rap albums since, you know, I don't enjoy being called a bitch and a ho, etc.
Gospel, just wasn't raised with it, so it has never been a part of my life. Jazz... for a while I dated a stand-up bass player who was very good and played in a jazz band and a blues band. The jazz band was... to be honest, above my head. It was like,... I couldn't find a beat to follow. I've always equated music with math, and I had a hard time doing that with jazz. I couldn't put it together. That was when I was pretty young and it kind of turned me off of it forever. Maybe I should give it another swing. The blues I enjoyed immensely, though. Stand up bass is my favorite instrument.

Riceme, I'm impressed with anyone who is flexible enough in their personality to enjoy several types of music. Let me say, RAP is not music. It is entertainment, but it is not music. In order or something to be considered music it must have changes of pitch and tempo. RAP is a monotone rant set to a beat.

I too like a variety of music and like you RAP is not one of them. My favorite though would have to be Classic Rock from the 70s and 80s.

I used to enjoy old school rap because it was political... none of the "bitches and hos" malarkey that you hear these days.
That being said, that was back when I was young and attending an extremely liberal university. My politics have since changed, but I can still appreciate the fact that those guys (there were no women rappers back then) wrote and rapped about the politics they believed in. And, as noted above, I still own the albums... I don't generally get rid of music.
So, I get what you all are saying... not so "musical" at all.

Ohm'gawd. You're asking me to go WAY back in the Wayback Machine! One of my sisters might know... she still hosts a radio show on one of the local stations up in Humboldt County.

Ja, I'm familiar w/Sage Francis! One of the issues is that my hearing has deteriorated so badly over the past ten years that for the life of me, I cannot understand what the hell-o they are saying... Which pretty much defeats >50% of the purpose for me.
