Your headline may be harsh but you are right. Drunk drivers deserve little sympathy.

I was telling the story of that woman that had multiple dui's then knocked a guy in a pickup into the bay... I think she was a nurse. I tried to find it on the web but couldn't. Anyone remember that?

A friend of mine was killed by a drunk driver as he laid his bed watching the NBA playoffs.  The woman, who had multiple DUIs, ran from the cops when they tried to pull her over.  She ended up hitting a curb, the car started turning end over end and ultimately crashed through the roof of his house.

Man arrested for third hit-and-run
Accident kills Navarre man
By Mat Pellegrino Gulf Breeze News news@gulfbreezenews.com

Carter Carter A Gulf Breeze man has been charged in a hit and run pedestrian related accident that killed a Navarre resident.

According to a release from the Florida Highway Patrol, 37-yearold Ryan Carter was driving down Highway 98, just east of East Bay Blvd. when he struck Roger Gallon, 61, of Navarre. Gallon was originally listed in critical condition after the crash, but passed away from his injuries on July 20, according to a FHP report. This wasn’t Carter’s first hit-and-run violation.

The accident happened at around 1:40 p.m. on July 16. According to the report, Carter was driving eastbound on highway 98 in the outside lane when he drifted off onto the shoulder of the highway.

Gallon was walking in the grass, facing traffic, on the shoulder when he was struck with the right front of Carter’s Chevrolet Tahoe.

According to the report, Carter originally stopped when he hit Gallon. Other witnesses were there on hand after the accident as well. The report indicated that after observing Gallon’s injuries, Carter got in his SUV and abruptly left the scene before law enforcement officers could arrive.

Gallon was later transported to Baptist Hospital in Pensacola for his injuries.

The impact caused $2,000 in damage to Carter’s SUV. It is unknown at this time if Gallon was under the influence of alcohol when he was struck. The report indicated that Carter was not under the influence when he struck the pedestrian.

According to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff ’s Office Jail View website, this wasn’t the first time Carter was involved in a hit-and-run.

Carter had been involved in two previous hit-and-run accidents according to the website.

According to the Santa Rosa County Clerk of Courts website, Carter was found guilty on December 9, 2011 for Leaving the Scene of a Crash Involving Property Damage, and DUI with Property Damage. According to court records, Carter served jail time for that particular incident.

The website also listed a guilty verdict for another charge of Leaving the Scene of Crash Involving Property Damage and Driving with a Suspended License on April 26, 2012.

According to the county Jail View website, Carter was arrested for his last hit-andrun on April 10, 2012. One of his hit-and-runs occurred in the Gulf Breeze city limits.

FHP Lt. Steve Preston said that Carter was charged with hit-and-run on November 21, 2011. According to the report, Carter rear-ended a Gulf Breeze man at an intersection. The report indicated that Carter stopped and gave the driver some of his information, but then fled the scene. According to the report, Carter was not suspected of being under the influence of alcohol during the hit-and-run and there were no injuries in the accident.

Carter was contacted by law enforcement officers after the accident and arrested for Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Serious Bodily Injury. After a thorough investigation, Carter was booked into Santa Rosa County Jail on July 17 on $3,000 bond. Carter was additionally charged with Careless Driving and Failing to Immediately Report a Crash. Because Gallon passed away from his injuries obtained from the accident, Carter could face additional charges. As of press time, Carter had not been charged with anything else related to the accident, which remains under investigation.

What was the amount of alcohol? Alcohol in your system doesn't mean you are drunk.
