For anyone in the North Alabama area, I recommend a visit to Helen Keller's childhood home in Tuscumbia, which is now a museum. The family home is still there, the well, and the carriage house where Ann Sullivan worked with Helen as a child. Sullivan was just a very young woman at the time, herself. It's a really neat place to visit.
