Blue Angels grounded for year in regard to air shows

I do not have a link but I heard this on the news.........This is the first of many knives in the side of the Panhandle as defense cuts begin in earnest.......but has this been a wise use of taxpayer money. I liked the shows........but should there be private funding for these air shows, or should they just shut it down?

I posted about this earlier and the financial impact it will have for PB and the surrounding area.

Suddenly, limiting gub'mint and eradicating wasteful spending don't seem like a such a good thing 'round these parts.

The best that could happen to the Blues. Maybe next year.

Not to worry, Buck Lee, like Mighty Mouse, will save the day by acquiring $1.2M in private funding . . . . . . . pssst (his contract expires next month) . . . . .

Maybe we could have a county wide bake sale(At the Blue Wahoo Stadium) and buy the Navel Air Station. Problem solved

My guess....that five million would not go too far with the Blue Angels fixed costs.......actually, my donating a hundred bucks would make about as much sense. 37 million dollar budget, and you can bet most of the real cost has been hidden. I would guess you are looking at 50-60 million a year, and there is no room to hide the real costs in the overall budget anymore.

It costs more than just 100k to run these jets for one show. There is constant non-stop practice/maintenance that occurs. That is not cheap. You can't just throw 100k at the BA and expect them to pick up show ready performance at the drop of a hat.

Why don't we cut aid to BS countries like Egypt and Libya where we are hated all day long despite the fact that we give them billions in aid and still stab us in the back.
