I have gotten hooked on this 18 part Documentary on YouTube "Wings of Russia." This is not the History Channel's "Wings of the Red Star" series, which was excellent, and first aired in the 1990s.
Wings of Russia is a Russian documentary about the history of the Russian/former USSR air force. It is narrated by a Russian in very thick English, with footage I have never seen before, and told from the Russian perspective. In this series, the Germans are portrayed as the adversary before 1945, and the United States afterward. As the jet age dawns, it goes into each type of aircraft developed, and what they were supposed to counter in the West. Absolutely fascinating, and if you lived through the Cold War, a real history lesson.
