The article says that it is company policy not to have a weapon inside the business. Well, that's why the employee had to go out to his car and get the gun!

It's shameful that this brave young man was fired!

Yes it is a shame that it cost him his job, but we are seeing more and more companies following suit. Seems to me that if an employee saves them money they should be grateful. I guess liability trumps savings everyday.

Something similar happened at a Circle K over in East Hill several months ago.

The clerk, a pleasant young man, stopped a robbery by grabbing the shotgun from the female perp and wrestling her to the ground.

The clerk was fired because he supposedly resisted the robbery. In truth, I think he was protecting himself from being shot.

I wrote a letter or protest to Circle K at the time, but never received a response. I haven't shopped at that store since.

Un. Friggin. Believable. And yet another reason for me not to shop there.

Here is a link w/video of an interview with the gentleman who was terminated by AutoZone:

Within this article is a link to a similar incident @WalMart a year or so back (below). Absolutely SHAMEFUL, but I would expect nothing more from WalMart.

One of the stupidest things I have ever heard of. He probably has a long line of lawyers who want to sue the Auto Store.
