NRA files for bankruptcy, says it will reincorporate in Texas

Funny how toxic Trump and the NRA are both hitting rock bottom at the same time. Couldn't happen to more worthy people.

The National Rifle Association said Friday that it has filed for bankruptcy in U.S. court as part of a larger restructuring plan aimed at moving to Texas.

The gun-rights advocacy group said it would restructure as a Texas nonprofit to exit from what it described as “a corrupt political and regulatory environment in New York,” where it is currently registered.

Last year, New York Attorney General Letitia James announced that the state was seeking to dissolve the NRA in a lawsuit that accused the organization’s leadership of diverting millions for their own personal use, resulting in a $64 million loss to the organization.

Russian agent’s guilty plea intensifies spotlight on relationship with NRA

"The guilty plea Thursday of a woman accused of infiltrating the National Rifle Association on behalf of the Russian government has thrust the powerful conservative group into an uncomfortable spotlight as the organization appears to be facing declining donations and signs its fearsome political influence may be waning.

Russian gun rights activist Maria Butina pleaded guilty in federal court in Washington to conspiring to act as an unregistered agent of Russia, admitting that she worked for more than two years to forge relationships with conservative activists and leading Republicans in the United States.

One of Butina’s main targets was the NRA — a group she identified in a 2015 memo as an organization that “had influence over” the Republican Party, according to court filings. Her relationships with the group, she wrote, could be used as the groundwork for an unofficial channel of communication to the next presidential administration..."

There's video of Corey Lewandowski lying to Congress about Trump being briefed on Russian interference in 2016, with none other than Matt Gaetz feeding the dialog. Lewandowski, of course, couldn't even know whether the briefing took place, because he was already out. But we remember Moscow Mitch telling Obama he would make it partisan if Obama brought the interference to the public's attention. All you have to do is look at who received NRA (Russian) money in 2016...there are the direct donations, but there are also dark money donations through PAC's. I can't wait until we have a real AG and a real investigation. NY AG Letitia James announced an investigation into the NRA 5 months ago. They can run, but they can't hide.

If you will recall, Trump initially called for stronger gun control measures after the Parkland shooting, then abruptly changed his tune after meeting with the NRA.
